TY

From Montreal drove to Glacier National Park in Montana but the weather was terrible there, raining and couldn't see much. Stayed a day then headed to Yellowstone (already posted) with the intention of returning after. We had slept in a parking lot and woke up to a really nice lake with what looked to be a really nice mountain and wanted to come back and do a hike there, but the government shutdown prevented that. Instead we took our tourism dollars to the Canadian side of Glacier National Park aka Waterton

Don't remember the names of the lakes but these are all Waterton. In retrospect probably should have made individual posts for Zion, Bryce, Arches and posted more. oh well

Nearing the entrance to Waterton (drove all day from Yellowstone)

Just outside entrance to Waterton

Alberta is fabulous for the combination of lakes/Rocky Mountains. I miss my hiking days over there when I was in my 20s, working at ski resorts, and going on magic mushroom expeditions, haha. Great pics, hope they are more coming...

TY few more posts. Definitely, loooved the Canadian Rockies. Waterton was entering Alberta, spent several months there, mostly playing cards in Calgary. Hitchhiked about 1,000 miles while in Alberta (Calgary > Revelstoke round trip, Calgary > Revelstoke > Edmonton via Calgary, Calgary > Evansburg which is about 100km West of Edmonton. Met my friend who I drove from Montreal to Calgary with in Evansburg and we went to Jasper in the van). After Canada was a short time at a beach South of Rosarito in Baja, California and then went to Oaxaca, Mexico for about 7 weeks followed by Sitka, Alaska, so yeah, have some more posts coming.

Going to post some of Jasper now which is amazing (mountains + lakes like mentioned in quote above), some of my favorite photos along with Yellowstone. Have not uploaded my last day in Jasper yet which was a really nice hike near Mt Robson so will likely post a few more later from Jasper.

Thanks Lucas, was good times hosting you, will post a couple pictures from there later. Yeah, have thousands and posted more than I expected but skipped over tons of good ones along the way too.

Few more from Jasper, Alberta, Canada that I just uploaded, recommend anybody who likes mountains and hiking to come here, or even just a road trip along the ice fields parkway. Jasper is great

Mt Robson, biggest mountain in the Canadian Rockies

Great photos, think the one of Mt Robson is my favorite. What was the highest elevation you hiked or climbed to on this trip?

TY. No clue, don't think very high. If I had to guess I would say in the 9,000 foot range if that. A lot of the lakes we hiked to in the Canadian Rockies were not that high. Maybe my perception of high is off coming from the West, have Big Bear Lake couple hours from my house in LA which is just shy of 7,000 feet (mtns are higher) so when I see the big mountains in the Canadian Rockies feel like they should be higher than they actually are. Done Annapruna Circuit in Nepal which goes to 17,769 feet over Thorong La Pass. Yellowstone is about 8,000 feet but didn't really do any mountain hikes there so probably didn't get too much higher than that in Yellowstone. Mt Robson is the highest mountain in the Canadian Rockies at 12,972 feet

Next stop Revelstoke, BC. Most vertical for a ski/snowboarding resort in North America. The town is 1,570 feet so really not that high but the mountains are still amazing

Revelstoke.

Only took my camera riding one day, lucked out with the perfect day to do it with a very cool cloud layer below

After Canada went home to LA for about a week + couple days in Vegas then went South to a beach between Rosarito and Ensenada (Mexico) called La Fonda aka K-58.

stayed in a hostel over looking this beach for about 10 days while playing online

Then went to work in Alaska for 12 days and flew to Puerto, Escondido, Oaxaca after that. Rented a house about a minute walk from this beach, hosted a dozen couchsurfers including Coafa

Playa Carrizalillo, Oaxaca (Puerto Escondido)

Puerto Escondido (Zicatela beach in the distance, aka the Mexican pipeline, world famous surf spot)

Playa Carrizalillo

Didn't travel much at all in Oaxaca, wish I did. Coafa and I did rent a bug which broke down several times and do a day trip

believe this is Mazunte, Oaxaca

POS

Then returned to Alaska whic will bring me to current so next post will likely be the last of the photos I suppose. May divide it into 2 posts, have quite a few

These pictures are awesome. I really hope I get to do something like this before I die, I've always wanted to. I think running across the country Forest Gump style would be such an awesome way of taking it all in. Really envious of you OP.

Not that there is anything wrong with running but I'd love to do it on bicycle. Have met a lot of bicycle travelers and think it is a great way to see the world. Bit faster than running, can carry all your gear and handy to explore cities etc. I have the bicycle for it, just haven't gotten around to it

Yeah, bicycling is probably more practical given the likelihood of eventually incurring a running injury.

kkkk pretty remarkable day don't you think max ?
Its me on the right side of the bug on this last photo, seriously, pretty amazing memory, I didn't even know that this picture exist!
For the record, we're pretty silly and got scammed hard by taking this awful bug, it was pretty scary to drive that kkkk, but after all, I would do all that **** again!
Thanks max!

The bug was a POS, still a good day, finding Itay and dragging him along in that thing was the best

4th of July in Sitka. Mentioned this earlier where my tripod was not tall enough to take photos from the bridge which would have been the best location but I think where i ended up still came out great.

by far the best one imo, came out awesome

Downtown Sitka, population 8-9k. By area Sitka is the largest city in the United States

rest are on the trail to Beaver Lake in Sitka

That's it. In Rosarito, Mexico right now. Took a few pictures walking through Tijuana on way here, don't think anything too good. Can post once I get more, or if anybody wants any from a specific place I posted itt I can post more from there

I have no idea, there are many beautiful places in North America. Utah is one of the more unique places in the world. From what is posted Yellowstone is my favorite place and it is also extremely unique. Jasper in Canada is also incredible. Far as pure natural beauty I would probably place Yosemite #1 (not included itt). I was only a day in the Grand Canyon, if I could do it over again I would do that road trip very differently and skip Arches and Mesa Verde spending more time in Grand Canyon allowing the opportunity to hike down and camp out along the river. Then my impression of the Grand Canyon may be very different. It is still spectacular but as played I'd go Yosemite and Yellowstone 1-2 which is probably a common ranking of places in the US, for good reason. Really anything Rockies West in the US/Canada is likely to be nice. Alaska is probably the most spectacular state but I haven't really traveled much in Alaska, just been there for work
