Wondering if anybody regular players at the star in Sydney, as will be going over there soon and was just wondering about what stakes are regularly running and if they run any larger PLO.

Would also be interested in other peoples thoughts about the room etc.

Not a reg by any stretch but I was there a couple days this year and also last year. 2/3NL ran always, 2/5/10NL ran most evenings/nights. The structure is a bit weird as the 10$ straddle is not compulsory, but nobody will play with you if you don't. 5/10/20NL (all in AU$) was said to run occasionally but never ran while I was there. High stakes sometimes ran like 50/100/200 NL.
I rarely play PLO but I think a 1/2 or 1/3 game ran almost always, and mostly on weekends I believe 5/5?. I was rarely there during the day so I don't know about that. Possibly some occasional higher stakes PLO also, don't remember.
The casino lives primarily off its awesome location, don't expect too much, service and dealer quality hit and miss

So there is a regular game with a BB of $3 and a regular game with essentially a BB of $10 but there isn't really a regular game with a BB of $5?

Yes, there's no game in between. Also the 2/5/10 was usually just one table and has a max buy-in of 1k.

I play 2/3 semi regularly at the star. Most players are terrible but so is the rake plus time charge.

Think rake at 2/3 is 10% max 10 plus 5 per hour time charge.

I played the 2/5/10 when it was on and the 2/3 when not. Well, I thought the 2/5/10 was not that bad, it depends on what you are used to, your skill level etc. obv. It was heavily infested by the same local regs every time, but always had a couple of good spots and some of the regs were probably not as good as they think they are, as usual. Small sample size though. Yes, the 2/3 is like you would expect for these stakes.
Compared to the US it is probably not a juicy game, but I thought it was okish. I mean I view that 2/5/10 mostly as a 2/5 US game, taking into account the value of the AU$ and the max buyin of 1k. If you'd also take into account the local costs of living that game is probably smaller than a 2/5 game in, say, Vegas.
The rake is not great, but 10 Aussie is just over 7 US and there are no tips. And the time charge is stupid as it drives people away from the game every hour but as long as you don't nit it up too much it's only a minor part of your rake. It is debatable but I think that rake is actually on the lower side for a place that is not in North America. They charge for a lot of drinks though, IIRC 1.5 for a coffee and 10 for a small heineken lol.
