Anybody care to comment on my choice of books before I order them?

I'm currently doing OK at LHE at the nanos (10c/20c currently). I've read SSHE and Limit Hold'em: Winning Short-handed Strategies, figure it'll be a while before WITHG is any use to me and when I want that, I'll buy it normally so I won't have to wait. So I figured I'd use my 'A' list books to diversify a bit and look into NL cash and SnGs.

With that in mind I'm looking at Professional No-limit Hold'em and the Moshman book on SnGs. Does it sound like I'd be able to follow these, or should I go for something more basic first? I have very little clue about anything NL-specific but I don't want to be getting a book that's mostly stuff I know from Limit, like 'in hold'em we have community cards', 'play tight pre', 'position is important', 'here are a few tells but don't rely on them too much' etc.

Any advice appreciated

Hello,

I play for cheeseburger money, but I have a close personal friend who supplements his income with poker. I asked him for suggestions to improve my cash game. Here are the books he suggested, and what my experience with them has been.

For SnG's, he recommended Moshman's book. I finished this one, and it is outstanding. I would recommend re-reading it until everything sinks in completely. The only deficit is that there is a minimum of information regarding head's up play... well, he has another book on that subject. I've picked up his Head's Up book as well, but haven't read it, so I cannot recommend it yet.

For MTT's and general No Limit knowledge, he recommended Harrington's tournament books (Harrington on Hold'em 1,2 and 3). I can't recommend these enough myself. As my first NLHE books, these really taught me how the game in general is really played. Plus Harrington's tournament style is very tight, which is (IMO) the best style to practice on the tables until you've gained enough experience to branch out to other styles. From what you're saying, you have some of the basic knowledge presented here from your limit experience. I guess what you'd get out of these books the most would just be how much and when to bet in certain situations, as well as bubble and M concepts.

For Cash play, he recommended Professional NLHE (Flynn, et al) over the Harrington Cash Books. I have only read 1/3 of it so far, but so far I feel I'm learning quite a bit. So count this as a "probably pretty good"...

Well, so far, that's solid recommendations on 4 books (HOHx3 and Moshman SnG), a promising recommendation for Professional NLHE, and just the word of my friend on the Head's Up book - but I haven't started it yet. So-plenty of solid A-books to pick from!

Suitcase, thanks for your advice. Do you think PNL will be understandable for someone who doesn't know basic NL already?

Donkson, thanks but you misunderstand: I play limit already but I want to look into NL cash and SnGs, and I'm looking for books on those subjects that (a) are basic enough for me to understand, but also (b) aren't so basic that they just repeat stuff I know from limit.
