Wsop event 2 hand -- all my options seem to suck

Blinds1-200/25 effective stacks 6800, villain covers. Been a table about an hour and villain has been active but not overly so, though my sample size is small. Villain opens mp1 to 500 folds to me in bb with K10s, I call. Flop QJ10 rainbow he leads for 800, I???

This is one of those spots where I'm really unsure best play and I hate them all. I could flat but I never get paid if I hit my straight draw since four to a pretty obvious straight is on board, plus if i miss i have to call a large bet on the turn, again without much in the way of implied odds. I could raise, and i likely have some fold equity, but then im committed and not I great shape against his get it in range, though my equity is prob about 33%ish. Finally, I'm not a pussy, so I don't want to fold so what do I do?

Pre I can go either way. But I'm leaning toward fold.

Flop: you make all the arguments for folding, but then don't want to be a pussy. Fold<raise<call

Point taken about folding ore, but ffs it's 1.5bbs more and it is a suited connected king, are we really folding this very often?

pre is fine, call now, probably fold if he barrels turn (unless it's very small) and you brick

Re: Wsop event 2 hand -- all my options seem to suck

you guys wanna fold k10 suited to a min raise? lol why are you so scared to see a flop? thats insane insta call

otf i think its probably a call ****ty spot but you have decent equity, a bluff catcher, and decent odds. 2.25 to 1 to see the turn, he may shut down, you may improve, and honestly you put him in a ****ty spot ott, thats not a horrible spot

Pre I'd fold against some and call against others depending how good and aggro they are. Agree with Steve, definitely call now and fold turn unimproved.

Re: Wsop event 2 hand -- all my options seem to suck

I fold pre like 80% and it's villain dependant, i'd rather call OTB with this hand against that raise than play it OOP.

The problem with this flop and that hand is that the only card that will make you money on turns and rivers is a T.
If an A,K, or 9 hits it is going to lock up the action unless he has you beat, you are chopping, or he is an idiot.
You should flat the flop to re-evaluate but lean towards folding.

no

u fold pre if villain is likely to barrel a lot, particularly 3barrels, or if he has very nitty openranges, or if you are a bad postflop player/bad playing oop

for the hand call flop

yeah i like that point about the bdfd, some extra equity and it probably warrants a call here

def like calling pre against most players. flatting flop is good. i think raising is fine too but calling sounds better.

Re: Wsop event 2 hand -- all my options seem to suck

there are many different variables in this situation. you have to know his range. more importnantly you need know why he is betting the amount he does in regards to the amount of chips in the pot.the flop looks mcuh better for him than it does for you unless you have gotten extreemly lucky and flopped a straight. he knows this remember that. if his range includes a-rags and any pairs in that position you have to figure theres an even better than 30% chance you are ahead. its less likely he has ak obviously because you are holding one in your hand. if he only tends to open w high suited kings and aces and pairs in that position again there is a smaller chance he has kq or kj again because u have one of those kings. in theory there is a very high chance he has a-rag or a small pair. you have to remember those scare cards that hit the board make it even more unlickly that he has one. "in theory". if you have not been check raising often i think u have much better folding equity than you think when you take into consideration all variables. also there is no flush draw which now is to comonly always check raised by beginers trying to play like a pro whilse at the same time making an exrtemly mathmaticly incorrect check raise. lots of players know this so a check raise i think is your correct option wether you are a pussy or not. the amount should be based on his remaining chips and you previous encounters. if he has aq you will get your information that you need easily. he could have aj or even less likely a-10. with those pairs and the draw u already know u have one of his outs. he may be on the same fraw w a king. either way check raising and even getting a call gives you charge of the hand. i dont remember your starting stack at the momnet and if you had enough for two more barrels but i think as soon as u get a flat call and you price him out of his draw on the turn if he has one those hand and most others will fold if you have been playing solid poker. this is my first time on the site i hope the input was usefull.

by the way the pre flop call is right every time as a poker player you have to know the math and you had the correct odds to call w even a wider range. of course tournaments with short stacks and fast blind levels should effect what you think priced in should be based on the percentage of your stack its going to take to make a call. but the call is right.
