I don't mind either way - just want to respect the house rules.

BET/CALL WTF
Turn raise is super crap just praying he will fold. We think he either has junk(after he check/called the flop) or the plan is to move him off an A/9 LOL? You've also built the pot to where it sounds like you're not comfortable getting it in while if you just called you could get much more information on the river. You said no significant hands but at this point you should already have a feel for how these guys play since they're the only 2 at the table, I'll take a wiiiild guess this guy sucks since this hand so far is open limp, check/call, donk.

Lets assume the guy sucks. He has no idea how to play a big hand in this spot. I can relate to that because I suck, as most here will agree.
If I'm oop and and I flop a hand, I will often check it. I don't want to "waste" this hand by betting and inducing a fold.
If my opponent bets, great. Let him/her bet it for me all the way. I have only a vague idea about proper bet sizing, no clue what to do if I bet and get raised, or how to lead the next round if it's flatted.
I'm not concerned with maximizing value. My concern is I just paid $1,500 to play this thing, and would rather maximize my chances of surviving long enough for the waiter to return with my coffee..
I'm beginning to see that better players always respond to weakness with aggression. So, while it was my error to suggest being defensive, I know the CO could be way ahead in this spot. His line makes no sense from a better player's perspective. But it makes sense to me.

Re: WSOP $1,500 Shootout. Nut Flush on Paired Board
I'm really glad i read this thread... villain never has 55 or 44 unless he decided to limp call and "take one off" oop with an underpaid on A99dd which i dont think many ppl are going to do.. villain also isn't going to lead quads on the turn imo and he doesn't have AA he's gonna limpraise AA.. so now we lose to exactly A9 and 95 and 94.. he's gonna have an ace and 9x really often and call with them after calling the turn so we have a mandatory value bet.. do u see why checking back is terrible? You don't have to defend your obviously incorrect line to the grave bro we've all made bad posts and mistakes at some point on here..
PS turn raise is spew

Fatso-agree with your post PLUS sometimes CO has a flush, he can easily c/c flop w the draw, then lead turn to set a cheap price to draw then call the raise so he can "win a big pot" if the diamond falls.

I dunno about never.
3 handed, any pocket pair is strong, but flopped overcards are guaranteed, so limp.
Pot is 325.
A99. Btn holding a 9 is remote, an A is possible so check it. In any case I missed my set.
Bet is 175.. roughly half pot. Doesn't seem like a good spot to be folding 44 or 55.

Re: WSOP $1,500 Shootout. Nut Flush on Paired Board
heh...
I'm gonna follow Wiz around and say.. I agree with Wiz!.
but seriously, what you see is simply Level 2 thinking. No math, no strategy.. but some awareness of an opponent's possible holdings.
And it is rampant in the WSOP where there is little correlation between high stakes and high skill. Thousands of less skilled people who can afford to blow off a few thousand are scattered throughout the events.
