Weird hand I witness in venetian 600 1b

Hola.

Player 1 is an aggro mid 20s kid. I'd bet a dollar he posts on here but I didn't ask. He has 12k.
Player 2 is a very tight asian lady. She has about 18k
Blinds are 1/200. No ante.

Folded around to 1 in CO who make sit 425.
Player 2 is in SB and makes it 2100.

Player 1 flats.

I'm of the impression that we should have 0 flatting range here due to spr being less than 3-1 that isn't some kind of trap/slowplay. The only thing I can think of is 88-jj that wants to wait for a safe flop?

Flop
832r
SB -All In
Player 1- Calling range? He had 98o and called.

How in the heck does he have 98 there? Seems pretty darned bad. I see this play a LOT from people who seem like they should know better (i.e. young 20s guys). What's with the whole "i never fold to 3bs thing"?

You assume pl 1 is good because he is agro mid-20s? Seems like a hand between 2 donks.

The ol' "I put you on AK and nothing else" play.

Re: Weird hand I witness in venetian 600 1b

I didn't say he was good I said he was aggro and that he *should* know better.
Was wondering if any of you guys could figure a way for the play to be right because I wasn't seeing it.
I mean even if she has AK there alot if she is open shipping 100% of flops with her entire range (QQ+ AK imo) then calling with any top pair or even any second pair seems pretty bad even on a flop as 'good' for our hand as this.

I'm legit waiting for someone to prove me wrong.

Re: Weird hand I witness in venetian 600 1b

The 3-bet to 5x raise size is extremely nonstandard. Calling this 3-bet with 98o is beyond awful.

Given description of player and sizing, the 3-bet is JJ+/AK almost always, but probably not AA.

Flop is probably a fold to shove for almost twice pot. This is closer though, because overshove looks like AK rather than overpair.

Just because someone is agro doesn't mean he is good. I doubt player 1 is a winning player much less a pro.

if she shows him AK and promises to ship flop then it's probably well played. As is, turns out that lots of people that seem to play reasonably are in fact just randomly clicking buttons in a way that roughly resembles how a decent player plays

Actually, true. When I do coaching, I will often look over a student's HH and they will be making all the standard plays and I think they are really good. Then I find they have huge leaks, particularly in unusual situations. Even more online, a lot of people have copied the standard approach, but that doesn't make them good players.

Allright, then this is one play I won't add to my playbook.
