Tough Spot top 2 early in a 500$ tourney Tough Spot top 2 early in a 500$ tourney

Hi,

in a recent tourney, we were down to 13isk k (from 20k starting), after a couple of tough beats (KK cracked twice, straight crushed by runner runner flush,...)

So at 100/200, 4 people limp to us on the CO with AdQs. I make it 1100, Utg limper and HJ call. Pot is 3500, we have 12k behind, both villains a little over 20k

Flop comes AxQcTc, Utg checks, HJ makes it 2300.

What are we gonna do? To me all options (folding, calling, raising small and Jamming) are somewhat bad with Jamming the least bad (mostly due to protection against various draws, and maybe to get AQ to fold...)

Both villains didnt play to tricky, so I didnt expect AA, QQ too often (also we have serious bockers).

Thanks for views

In this situation you can do call or minraise, doesnt matter, you're ahead of the spectrum limp opponents

Just jam

So I'm guessing the 2 guys aren't incredibly competent? You would expect HJ to just have flush draw a lot here, from what you say he shouldn't have sets and maybe these guys sometimes lead the QT and KJ because omg flush draw is there. So given that I'm probably calling down and folding to clubs. Still got 65 bb if he covers. Course if you think he has all the 2p and will call your flop jam you can also go ahead and stick it in. Oh and you also beat Axcc.

i would not expect HJ to have a fd here, his most likely holdings are Ax, and KJ

i would also go allin, or maybe just like raise to 6k cuz they dont know how much you have behind

I am all in. I have top 2 pair in a $500 tournament vs someone who just limp/called 5.5x pre then donked flop. If he has KJ or TT my plan will change to hitting an ace or a queen on the turn or river.

I would also make my sizing bigger pre.

i'm somewhere around calling with the plan on folding or jamming some turns. I'd like to have some two pair in my call range here and don't think raising really accomplishes that much.

You're right that jamming is the best option, but you are jamming for pure value and maybe rarely a bit of protection. This opponent almost always has a "strong" hand in their mind, a good ace maybe A/10 and they are going to find it very hard to fold. I think this is very rarely a draw and lol at villain folding AQ. Get the money in happily

Jamming is the best option here, we are happy to GII vs AX or Combo draws Like Kxcc...

ok. obviously I sticked it in. I was just curious what if any donking range HJ should/could have here

Nobody apparently was too concerned about the UTG limper...

Spoiler:
...who had the STONES (KJ) and I was out

Yep utg limper can have KJ. He can also have hundreds of other combos. Do you want us to tell you to fold?? Seems like this is more bbv, especially with the "obviously I sticked it in" comment. If it's obvious don't make a thread about it.

and thats why 0 percent of the discussion focussed on UTG.
For me the decision was obvious, but sometimes you get caught in the moment and may not realise facts that have to be taken into consideration. Thats why I posted. Nobody in the discussion came up with anything, so it apparently was just a standard cooler...
