Tony Gregg's 83o shove Tony Gregg's 83o shove

I'm curious to hear from the math guys about this shove. Is this a shove? I know personally, no matter what the numbers say, I'm not busting out of the main with 50 left with 83o.

Blinds: 60,000/120,000 Ante: 20,000

Action folds to Tony Gregg in the small blind and he moves all in for about 1,250,000. Ronald Giles calls from the big blind and the cards are tabled.

Gregg shows and needs help against Giles's .

The board runs out and Gregg is eliminated in 50th place. He adds $142,447 to his career tournament earnings and Giles drags the pot.

Ronald Giles - 7,450,000 (53 bb)
Tony Gregg - Eliminated in 51st place ($142,447)

Against a Nash opponent, no. But pretty sure Giles was a pretty old guy, and my guess is Gregg assumed he would exploitably overfold his BB (which is very possible for an old guy). You can plug it into a program like ICMIZER to see how tight Giles would need to call for Gregg to push any two. That range may or may not be realistic. But if someone folds too much, given such large antes also, I can easily see some ATC pushes.

Really good shove against a random rock.

If villain is calling 44+, AX, KTs+, and KTo ; 83o makes 2.28bb/100. For reference K2o makes 2.48 and A2o 3.39. Even if we loosen up villains calling range a bit its still really profitable.
