Is there a best "day one" to play? (Ocean's 11 WPT 00; Satellited in) Is there a best "day one" to play? (Ocean's 11 WPT 00; Satellited in)

I was wondering if anyone had thoughts on whether there's a better day of the week or a "first/middle/last" choice regarding which day-one to play.

I satellited into the upcoming $1100 WPT main event at Ocean's Eleven.

The three day-ones are Thur 10/30, Fri 10/31, and Sat 11/1.

When they asked me I just quickly chose Thursday because I'm chomping at the bit. But they do allow us to change it.

My only thinking now is that Saturday probably looks better. More weekend warriors and also more people desperate to take their last shot.

Would anyone recommend me changing it? Or does it not matter in the sense that the quality of players should be pretty consistent and/or random?

Thanks.

I would not say that the quality of players should be pretty consistent or random.

If you are just firing 1 bullet, probably 9 times out of 10 you'll find the softest field on Saturday.

Thanks. Yeah one bullet. Pretty convincing. Leaning towards changing it. More opinions welcome.

If there are a significant amount of pros playing they will play Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Saturday will often be the biggest field.

If you feel anxious, (chomping at the bit) then definitely move to Fri or Sat depending. Go there on Thurs and play cash & observe the first day a bit. TBH, your day one table is far more important & you can get a soft initial table draw on any day. When do you think you will be mentally prepared for your Day 1?

This is like saying "Your preflop hand doesn't matter because you can get any kind of flop". I doubt if there's a difference it'll be huge, just pick whichever day suits you. I like avoiding the super crowded days personally.

general rule of thumb is that the last day is the softest (since better players will be more likely to have bagged in an earlier flight), some exceptions where tons of pros are flying into town and won't be there for day 1a but doubt thats the case here

I'd be surprised if the pros were flying in for this one since it's only an $1100 main. i went ahead and changed to Saturday. I'll be there Thursday and Friday playing cash anyway so I'll be interested to walk through and see if I can get a sense of how the Day 1s differ. Thanks for yalls responses.

Good decision on changing to Saturday. There will be a lot more satellite players on Saturday and a lot of the best players will qualify on Thursday and Friday. Saturday is much better than Friday and Friday is better than Thursday.

CalB nailed it

I generally don't decide on picking A B or C just on the assumption that last day is best.

Usually Saturday is the best day since that's when all Recs have a day off. Also a second decision maker is figuring out when the major satellite is, the day after is always juicy

Generally play will be tighter on the last day cause "there's no tomorrow" to re-enter. It's up to you to decide if that's good for you or not.

Generally though, with all the satellite winners likely playing on the saturday that's your best bet.

My read is that this thread was pretty much created just to announce that you won a satellite to the main event at Oceans 11, and so, CONGRATS man, and good luck!

Always whichever day is on the weekend makes most sense if its an option
