Main Event big draw day 1

Villain is not good. Older guy, says he plays a lot but is very amateurish. I have 27K, Villain probably has 60K.

I 3bet Villain last orbit and took the pot down with a bet on the flop. I've possibly been the most active player at the table over the course of the day, less so in the last level though.

150/300, no ante.

He raises UTG+1 to 750. It's a fairly tight range. I call J 9 in MP. 3 people call behind.

Flop (3750) is A 8 7

Checked to Villain and he bets out 3,000 quickly. I'm as sure as I possibly can be that he has AK/AQ/AJ/ATs, but I guess I can't rule out 88/77. I don't think he'll fold AK, not really sure what he'll do with the other big aces.

Do you raise/go with it or do you call?

I'd call, and I don't think it's close. Old guy isn't gonna fold an A to you, and you can potentially take him off everything else on later streets + you have outs & position.

Yeah. Just call. A diamond may kill some action, so don't bet big on the turn if he checks a diamond to you. A Ten of course is gin. oh wait.. 3 others in the hand? I might have to raise here. Depends on how fit or fold the others have been? Leaning towards raise since OR could easily have AKd and someone else could have QTdd. If old guy shoves over I'd be leaning towards a fold. (says the 40 year old)

This guy probably won't get away from his hand if you hit most likely so more of a reason to just call

Re: Main Event big draw day 1

just raise to like 18k or something.....when a diamond hits your not getting his whole stack and we might be able to fold out some Ax/better hands

Re: Main Event big draw day 1

Why 18k? He is smart enough to not double us up when we hit and yet he is dumb enough to not realize that we are effectively jamming with that sizing?

Re: Main Event big draw day 1

for the people saying he`ll never fold is he really gonna stick in 27k there with A10/AJ in the main event? I`d prob make it like 12.6k, only becos i find people regard overbets in these spots as pretty suspicious

I changed my mind on my sizing, 13K is better than 20

Re: Main Event big draw day 1

Why are we raising? From the description it seems highly unlikely he is folding and do we want to put in 90 bbs with a flush + gutshot? Why not call and you'll still get a good amount of chips out of him if you hit. Risk/reward doesn't seem good for raising to try and get a huge portion of our stack in.

Not a fan of raising here in the Main Event. Flat and see what happens ott.

You should be calling even 9Tdd here in the main even if you somehow see oldmans cards and they are A3o no d

Raise to 9000 so you can ship the turn. Hope he folds bigger flushdraws, seems reasonable to assume he'll fold one pair either now or on the turn. If you're going to flat here on the flop I think you should fold pre as there's not enough flops that way that you'll be able to play profitably.

I wish I'd done this. I like it better than your 13K suggestion. I made it 8K in-game.
