Limping the button HU

I noticed Tricket did it every hand in the One Drop and Stzasko did it with like half the hands in the 2011 ME. Think this is OK to do occasionally or if short stacked to make it harder for your opponent to shove on you. Seems like it might not be good to limp a lot as you wind up playing smaller pots in position. Am I off base with this?

Re: Limping the button HU

maybe am stating the obvious, but it can only work in shortstacked latestage play if you also do that with strong hands that you'd love to get it in with PF;

also, seems to indicate a conviction than when when opposed with equally skilled players, don't want to play for stacks preflop just based on Nash/etc in really superbig payday tourneys with huge payjumps where the calculation of correct bet/call ranges in shortstack play based on trying to play +Ev in infinite number of hands is just ridiculous.

but maybe i'd just be scared money.
