Hey
So what do you think is Van Hoof thought process during this hand?
I'm pretty sure he bluff shoved the river, even though he could made millions dollar mistake, due to Larrabe 'capped range'. Larrabe just don't have the nuts (Ace, Queen) in his range. There is no way he is just calling Ace Queen from the BB against the most aggressive player button open.

What do you think about this hand?

I remember when I saw this hand, I thought that Larabe having an 8 is a small part of his range. He is much more likely to be raising the turn with 2 pair or the Q or air. It doesn't make sense to bluff raise with what he had (Van Hoof is not going to be folding a lot of hands). On the river if I were Van Hoof, I would be thinking my two pair is probably good. I didn't really understand his shove although it did work out for him.

Basically I agree with OP. Not very likely Larrabe has a Q cos he bet so big on the turn, and maybe van Hoof picked up on that. So he's bluff-shoving the river, most of the time having the best hand and Larrabe is gonna fold, and sometimes Larrabe is gonna have an 8 and he will likely be folding that as well.

Is it what we call a 'capped range'?

Yeah I think so. I mean I do think it's possible that maybe some of the time Larrabe would be flatting pre with AQ, but if van Hoof deduced from the big turn bet followed by the river check that Larrabe just can't have AQ, then yes it's a capped range.
