Erik Seidel Exempt from showing cards? Erik Seidel Exempt from showing cards?

Why does Erik Seidel not have to show his cards when playing in the EPT Grand Final Super High Roller in Monte Carlo? All other players at the feature table had to show. PokerStars seems to be picking and choosing who has to abide by Poker Stars own rules. Or am i missing something?

I watched a lot of the live feed of the EPT SHR. Negreanu commented on it and basically said that Seidel is always trying to get away with not showing his hole cards for these events. Somebody spoke to him on one of the breaks and afterwards he was showing his cards fwiw.

Ya i saw that, then Daniel left and no cards shown again! I thought PokerStars warned you once then you had to sit out a round. On the Poker Stars stream i saw, it was hours without seeing a hand.

Hole cards = good TV. Good TV = more bad MTT players. Going back to the Gabe Kaplan ESPN Main Event coverage days is pretty -eV!

I have always been a big fan of Erik and this just stinks.
Good find Hiatus. I looked and looked and could not find a linkable view.
I understand the reasons for not showing, the thing is rules are rules. Letting Erik slide and not others is creating a very disingenuous atmosphere for all future tournaments. If i enter an EPT and make the final table do i have to show my cards?

dont play a tournament where you have to agree to showing your holecards if you are so against it maybe?

What's really sad is Pokerstars has the gall and audacity to continue to promote the EPT in Monaco as if its some sort of real and fair competition. What has happened to Pokerstars?

just finished watching the 2016 #aussiemillions $100K Challenge Day 1 on twitch with jcarver commenting. same thing ivey etc etc and everyone else showing his cards, not seidel and all carver said was everyone signs an agreement to show cards and eric is not and they are not making him. anyone know how he gets away with it? is it a legal loophole?

In the rules they are signing agreeing to show their cards for tv/stream etc which we all understand. Does it specifically list a reprimand for not showing the cards? I agree it's bs but in Siedel's defense - can they really give him a penalty if it doesn't state as such in the initial agreement he signed? What are they going to do - make him surrender his stack and give a refund? If there is no ramifications expressly stated in the agreement I think he has leverage until they change the agreement. They can't just say "hey show your cards or you will get a penalty," can they? At least "legally" right?

Anyone have a copy/link to the SHR agreement sheet that has to be signed?

I don't think coverage brings more bad players to these SHR. Maybe to free rolls or small stakes, which high rollers like Eric doesn't/shouldn't care about.
I think Seidel knows that he doesn't have to sign anything from a legal stand point. Or, if he signs, knows these contracts aren't legal anyway. Unless they sponsor him the buy in, and even then its questionable.
Im pretty sure nothing like that would hold in court if PS would threat him with any legal action against him.

As a regular SHR player I would consider legal actions against production companies myself if they force me to show HC. For obv, long term, strat & rep damaging reasons.

I personally think these streams and later "tv" shows are terrible productions and don't count as good poker PR.
