There are many different ways we think of math but if we are going to define math as the art of problem solving (Using known information to help figure out unknown information), then no, I don't think you can be a successful MTT player without being good at math. But, if we are going to simply refer to math as numbers and odds and percentages, than I think you can not only be a good MTT player without being very good at math, you can actually be one of the best.

OP, all poker thinking is mathematical insofar as it translates into action. The "feel player" is a myth, what these people have a feel for is the math, and those who approximate will inevitably fall to those who calculate.
