What is the most simple way to calculate your M in tournaments with anties?

Calculating M is obv very basic, but I've not found anything incorporating anties. (I know true M is related to level times)

it does not have to do with level times. the total pot when everyone has anted and posted their blinds = 1m

It does have to do with level times. M theory is how many orbits you can make with your current stack. If there's only time for one more orbits at the current level and the next level doubles blinds, if you're not incorporating that into your calculation then you're way off....I do think I can figure it out though. 1m = sb/bb per orbit + ante x # of players at table......thanks.

There may not be an emphasis on it in the current era, but it IS a useful tool. And anyone not using ALL tools at their disposal is the one to be laughed at.

As to the OP's question, the estimated number of hands remaining in a level is going to be basically the same regardless of whether there are antes or not. Simply incorporate the ante into that calculation because that is chips coming out of your stack whether you play the hand or not...

So wouldn't M be the amount of antes you pay in an orbit + SB + BB?

Based upon my understanding, yes. And whether it is wholly correct or not, it IS a number I keep in my mind for what each orbit is costing me and IS a factor in some (not all) decisions if/when I am getting near or are already below average stack size.

I've never understood why people prefer counting big blinds when that does not take into account antes and ante ratios. I got all mah zones memsmorized
