Folded to CU who is super aggro big stack.
He raises, BTN folds, SB is mid stack 3bets.
I shove 18bb's with 99.
CU folds, SB calls and shows KQo.

CU has been raising almost every hand so I am confident I am ahead of him.
SB has been successful with resteal against him so I am expecting him to be 3betting wide also.
I had already decided that I would shove even against the 3bet.
My shove is about 2x the 3bet so he is priced in for the call

The other line I was thinking about was flat call and then call/shove any flop.
Can anyone make an argument for this?

No. Very standard 3bet jam.

My thinking is that because my shove has no fold equity preflop and I'm likely to be against 2 over cards and my goal here is just to survive, if I just call - most likely villain will cbet to put me all and I will call any flop so the result is the same as if I shoved pre, but say the flop is dry and villain is spooked by my flat call so he checks then I shove, this way I DO have fold equity and I don't have to dodge a turn and river.
Am I wrong?

Your goal is to win the tournament. Having the attitude of surviving won't take you there.

You can run simulations in hold'em resources and such programs which gives you a very specific number on how many BB we win by 3bet jamming. This number is extremely likely to be larger than how much you can make by flatting?

There are a lot of bad flops for 99. By jamming, we take away his positional advantage.
