**Important: There is no SB in this hand** (on partypoker, the hand after someone in the blinds busts there's no SB, generally resulting in tighter opening ranges)

Payouts are:
1st: 13400$
2nd: 9250$
3rd: 6750$
4th: 4750$

What would you do?
- 3bet/call shove? seems bad considering icm
- shove 26bb? 26bb seems like too many, would prob shove <20bb
- 3bet/fold to shove?
- Flat? seems too passive

Also vilain had been fairly inactive at the FT so far (17/11 stats over 39 hands)

partypoker - $530+$0|12000/24000 NL - Holdem - 4 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 48.16 BB (VPIP: 29.17, PFR: 19.58, 3Bet Preflop: 9.09, Hands: 148)
Hero (BB): 30.34 BB
UTG: 26.1 BB (VPIP: 24.54, PFR: 19.30, 3Bet Preflop: 10.14, Hands: 326)
CO: 78.73 BB (VPIP: 31.08, PFR: 26.09, 3Bet Preflop: 7.14, Hands: 149)

4 players post ante of 0.1 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.42 BB) Hero has 8 8

UTG raises to 2 BB, fold, fold, [color=red]Hero ?

26BB seems high to jam. I hate flatting because you almost always see overcards on the flop, and if villain is playing 17% of hands, that's almost exactly any two broadway cards and all pairs -- so it's really hard to distinguish between overcards that hit him and those that don't. Folding is too weak.

I kind of think you have to 3b/f here, to something like 4.5BB. In the alternative, you can simply light yourself on fire.

I'd call as a default, if they're an absurd spastic then allin. I think 3betting to a non-shove amount has got to be the worst option especially on Party

Both calling and jamming are fine probably, pref. calling over jamming though.

V being not super active is probably because V was the smallest stack. You can't be that active with 25BBs on short handed table.

On top, V will prob. play pretty str8t forward on 26BB stack, even if he is the smallest atm and thus has the lowest ICM pressure. Just flat and play it post.

How can jamming be right on 26bb?

Wat

Jamming is obviously going to be +ev for 26BB. It's just a question of how much.

If he's opening very tight (gave him 22% which is like the tightest I can plausibly think of (A8o+Axs,22+,suited broadways, Kto+, QJo+, T9s,J9s,Q9s,K9s,98s) shoving even 33 makes a small profit. It's breakeven even against 16% range. He would have to be a ridiculous nit for a shove to not make money and yes I included no SB.

I think calling is better tho.

Lower variance, ICM, we don't have a great hand. If you're awful post and short handed then just shove.

I don't remember ICM calcs but it feels like an okay jam. We cover villain, we are not close to 2 bigger stacks, so don't have to be too tight with our pre decisions. On the other hand, we can flat and play it pretty well this deep, it can't be hard, playing 8s oop 26bb deep.

EDIT: gotta say, 3b/fold is the most absurd option ever, how could anyone sane even come up with it.
