300BRL buy-in live - tough spot w/ JJ

So i was playing day 2 of a tourney yesterday and this hand came up

blinds: 1200/2400 ante: 300

my stack: 75k

It was the first level of day 2 so i had no info at all on the players at my table, players were playing pretty standard, raising 2.5x and showing AK/KK/AQ. Nothing worth mentioning until now.

villain (~80k) raises UTG+2 to 6.2k. I 3bet on the btn to 14.5k to see where i'm at. SB (~110k) shoves, villain snap calls, hero???

Yeah i folded and both had AK

the JJ would have held up and i would have tripled my stack. I was so tilted after this hand it was ridiculous, couldn't believe it. But i guess it was the right laydown then...just needed to hear from you pros

You see why this isn't really relevant, don't you? The lesson here is to assign both players a reasonable hand range and determine if your holding has the proper equity to call. Tilting because you *could* have tripled up is a much bigger problem. Maybe you are playing over your BR?

Yeah i know i tilt easily. But i wan't playing over my bankroll, i currently have a 10k roll and the buyin was 300. I was pretty comfortable playing it..I dont always play tourneys i prefer sticking to cash, but sometimes i take shots for the big payouts. i tilted because the first prize was 16k and the field was really soft, if i won that pot i'm sure i would make a deep run

but i know i cant be results oriented, it was the right laydown and if another situation like that came up i'd fold again

not if you are not a pro..i only play like once a week and a have a decent job, 10k is the money i set aside for poker to play 1/2 or sometimes 2/5, im pretty comfortable spending 300 on a tourney once in a while
