$25k satellite to the One Drop $1Mill - what happened here ?

http://uk.pokernews.com/live-reporti...hips.30161.htm

Is this play by Deeb a way to ensure that he finishes 2nd and most likely earns $1million cash instead of a $1million must-play seat ?

If so, is it a legitimate play ?

that was a bad flop for his hand, probably had 55 or 66
why would he go broke there?

2nd prize is better than 1st there, for just about anybody except uber wealthy glory hunters.

Gus' flatting range is AA because he doesn't wana risk scaring Deeb away with a 3bet
Mathematically it's a close call on the flop with 66/55 being 1000:1 and Deeb getting 1296:1, but Deeb obv has a pretty big edge here so he can fold and look for better spots.

..looks like a chop. Hansen probably gets some cash.

Since prizes for both 1st and 2nd are technically "equal", it can't really be called soft play.

But regardless of that, if there were hole cams, they'd be wise to do it some other way, imo..

Those people weren't affected in any way by this deal happening. I don't see how anyone can fault Shaun for what he did.

Shaun punting a stack in a live event isn't news.

Obviously they agreed to a chop, with Deeb agreeing to take 2nd and the milly. They had an "unscheduled 5 minute break" when it got to heads up, most likely to hash out the details. Deeb already tweeted if he has to play he would be selling off pieces...

Clearly Shaun Deeb missed the flop completely and was better to fold. Nice thread tho btw.
