Raise to 325? Most players at this level of a 1K have no idea how many BBs you have or why its important. With no reads, I'm not shoving 8-8 UTG this early even with 14 BBs.

Re: 1k wsop

You need a huge hand to shove UTG for 14xBB with no antes. Shoving 88 is probably cEV-, and definitely not the best play.

Not folding 88, but not pushing. I wouldn't push any hand for 14xBB UTG with no ante.

So you are raise/folding 88 with 14BB?

Raise/reevaluate. You could also limp/reevaluate. You can't push. Think raise is better than fold particularly live this early.

Re: 1k wsop

The problem with a stop and go here is that if the flop comes with an A or paint this is going to smack the range of anyone who calls your raise pre and they are then probably committed as your push is not going to be enough to get them off it.

I think raise and then see what happens is ok here as people play so differently live.

And with 14bb in this sort of event then I think we can r/f here if we make it something like 325 and get a lot of action behind us.

Re: 1k wsop

lol push, stop-and-go. Can't play poker with an M of 9? Opening a tight range, somewhat looser live than online.

Live early, you may get multiple callers and no one cares you have 14xBB. Usually fold to a 3-bet, because it is often strong, and 88 is near the bottom of my opening range. However, if you get like 3 callers and some agro player 3-bets, then probably get it in an gamble.

I wouldn't open shove any hand here. It may be marginally cEV+ with 88 or some similar hands, but not worth it. Also, a waste to play JJ/AK this way.

I thought so too. Limping or opening is too awkward with this stack, im surprised betgo is saying hes never jamming even jj here. I think i just jam 99+ and aq+ here

but they will call 325 with about a million hands

in case you fish were thinking of jamming AA here

I think you can usually do better opening JJ than shoving, particularly live. In relation to the pot, you are pushing the equivalent of 24xBB without ante. Pretty sure you do better raising or maybe limping all of 99+/AQ+ than open shoving.
