00 Deepstacks, What was my hand? 00 Deepstacks, What was my hand?

A player limps in from late position and Ed Yang limps in from the cutoff. Marty Gorenc raises to 600 from the button and Randy Gil calls from the small blind. The big blind calls and both the late position limper and Yang come along.
They see a flop of 9hKh6c and Gil leads out with a bet of 700. The big blind calls and Ed Yang makes the call. With action back on Gorenc he slides out a raise to 2,375. Gil cuts out a stack of chips but has second thoughts and releases his hand. The big blind folds and Yang thinks it over for a few moments before tossing his hand into the muck. Gorenc flashes only the As leaving his opponents to wonder as he rakes in the pot.

I was the BB. What do you think I had? Did I misplay it? I thought this was a tough spot. BTW, this was 1st level Effective stacks 25K, Blinds 25-50

You're expecting us to know your hand when you're in the BB in a multi way pot and only seeing the flop? I think we need a bit more info. I can assign a range, but you're in the BB in the first level of a deepstack tournament, not a lot of info to go on here

You are right. Stupid way to post. Better questions would be

1. What should my range look like up to the last decision point?
2. What is the strongest hand I should be folding here?

That's some strange betting there. Two limps, 12x BB raise, and then four calls. You're calling immediately after the 12x raise, which looks squeezy. You don't likely have AA-JJ or AKs from your preflop action. I'll say suited connectors or pairs 22-TT.

Post, you're calling the lead getting better than 5:1, then fold to a 1675 raise. That sets a price of around 4.75 to one when it comes back to you, but it's against the PF raiser who is both uncapped and in position, with Yang having called behind.

I think you have 7s8s.

OR probably has AK or AA, you probably have 78or

That flop hits every single SC from KQ all the way down to 65., but fairly weakly unless they're hearts. You're not likely folding any heart draws given he prices you've been offered, nor are you folding 99 or 22. K9s may be in your calling range, but probably not. 99 and 22 are potential raises, but what are you balancing those with? Heart draws with some straight potential?

I'd fold KJs here. Probably not folding KQc. I also don't like any of my pair hands other than the sets. OR looks pretty darn strong and is IP.

You had AK and took a very weird line

You have a hand that you should have either folded or 3bet preflop. Something like A9 or KT suited.

It was a weird line. Yes, I did have AKo, no heart. I could have 3 bet pre, but was I going to call a 4 bet shove? No. I decided to try to keep the pot 'small' before the flop.

On the flop, I was sure I was ahead of the SB (he later said he had KQ), and didn't want to give up my position relative to the OR. I figured he would play his hand fairly 'face up'. I doubt he would have made a move at the pot with TT-QQ. That left a range my hand was doing terrible against: AA,KK,99, and some flush/combo draws, so I folded. Yes, I block a lot of his value, but I figured in a 5 way pot he just wasn't bluffing enough to make the call profitable.

Weird line indeed. Who am I to criticize? But I'm not calling this pre. I'm making it 1500 pre and reevaluating to a four-bet.

People shouldn't really avoid 3betting with big hands with fear of a 4bet.

I dont see any problem in 3 betting large and folding to a 4 bet shove here. AKo has huge reverse implied odds oop in MW pots that is really hard to justify a call PF. Your EV is definetelly worse than 3betting here
