One point says that many French poker pros chose to move to Luxembourg Monaco or the UK because french taxes suck. In theory earnings from poker are not taxable if it is occasionnal but they are taxable if it's a regular source of income... because in some cases poker is luck (if you happen to win once in a while) and it becomes skill if you win on a regular basis.
