Stars.fr vs Stars.com

Hey guys,

I'm a 50NL FR grinder with hopes of moving to 100NL soon. I'd like to know your opinion on what's the best site to play at, considering my current situation, Stars.com or Stars.fr. I've already read some of the posts on 2+2 about this topic but I didn't find them very conclusive.

If possible, I'd like to know the opinion of someone who has played both sites recently but any info is appreciated. If someone has a big enough sample to compare wr and rakeback on both sites that would be great.

Pros of each site:

Stars.com: bigger traffic and player pool; lower rake;

Stars.fr: fishier games (although at times they are really reg infested); bigger amount of vpps won, higher value of Euro making that nl50€ = ~nl70$;

Thanks everyone in advance

Why would anybody choose voluntarily a site with a smaller playerpool, higher rake and tax?????????

I don't have to pay tax, just the higher rake. And stars.fr has its owns advantages as I've stated on the op.

You have to pay tax my friend, cause every pot you play is taxed additionel to the rake.

The higher rake is the tax. You don't have to pay an higher rake + taxes. Just the higher rake.

I wish to win zero VPPs at all if the rake was like 2%, with 1€ cap.

I do know that, I was just stating a little compensation we get for paying higher rake.

Have you played there? What do you think of it? Thanks

Re: Stars.fr vs Stars.com

the only game that runs 24/7 is 25 NL. on 50 NL you wont find more than 10 tables most of the time and on 100 NL its even worse. on top there is virtually no 200 NL+, so sometimes you ll encounter some really good players on 100 NL.

when you consider playing on stars.fr you either have to mix stakes or add some 6max tables.

6max tables used to be my preferred format but with such rake... I don't know...

Re: Stars.fr vs Stars.com

I am forced to play PS.fr but I would play PS.com if I could.

While the crazy players make the game more profitable over the long run in my experience they tend to increase variance over the short run, and it doesn't compensate sufficiently for the increased rake and the limited player pool.

You say you've read some posts on 2+2 about this and you don't find them conclusive. Really? I haven't seen a post yet that suggests playing higher rake is a good idea.

What you say is true but what I meant is that I was still unsure about what I should do and wanted to ear more opinions. Thanks

Re: Stars.fr vs Stars.com

Agree with everything which has been said. If you can access ps.com you can also access other softer sites, I see absolutely no interest in playing on ps.fr. It's not like 100NL+ is that soft anyway (it is slightly softer but clearly not enough to make up for the crazy rake).

and this is very true, I can't fathom why people don't get it.

Re: Stars.fr vs Stars.com

^^ As I already said, I know that's true but it's still a compensation you get from playing at .fr and it would be wrong to ignore it. I mean, if you get the same win rate at both sites, ignoring traffic and other factors, you should play at .fr since you get the higher rakeback (although yes, you pay more rake for it, but the rake you pay is already taken into account in your wr - but I guess you already know it )

Thanks for your answer!
