Next workout will be tomorrow. Going to actually squat. Haven't squatted in....?? Years. Many years.

Interested in coming down here? I'm going to be doing light pushing and pulling stuff here at home on Wednesdays for a while.

At some point maybe. But the logistics are too difficult to figure out in terms of making sure I don't get home too late and also watching our daughter. Also, since I'm WFH tomorrow I plan to lift in the morning or early afternoon but don't think I can take all the time "off" work to go out to your place to lift.

I cant decide if it is good or bad that you went to the trouble to do all those squats at 130, and didnt just say "F it" and put on a plate. On one hand, it shows discipline and dedication to the process. But it just seems so nitty.

In other news, rereading the Prince of Nothing series. Not really sure where to go after there. All caught up on all the series I really like. Any suggestions?

Ammanas,

It sounds like you could be a useful new member to this subforum.
We're especially running low on members with expertise in the area of evolutionary biology.
Do you, by any chance, happen to have at least a tiny bit of that in you?
Welcome!

Yugo,

Good to see you back at it

Jdock - You got banned again? Wtf, lol. I am reading the Grim Company and while the writing is not the greatest (there are typos and errors throughout at the very least - but I don't really mind), it does capture what I found one of the most fun parts of the Malazan books - the sense of group and camaraderie/humor between characters. So I can definitely recommend that. It's well paced, doesn't have the endless atmospheric crap Erickson seems to put into his books more and more, and individual books are therefore not nearly as long. So while there are ~10 in the complete series, it will not end up being a chore to get through them (my guess, I'm only on book 4 right now).

As for 130, that is what the spreadsheet says so that's what I did. I mean, yes, if I'm going for a 1rm and have 310 on I am obv going to go for 315 but this seems silly to care about at these weights.

Pummi - Thanks! I do think Ammanas will be a great contributor in the area of evolutionary biology. Or at least opinions on such a topic.

Black company? Good luck achieving very mediocre dad lifts!

Yup, finally reading it! He probably calls it the grim company, dude has typos in most chapters. But yeah, I did not mean the grim company, lol.

I read the first 3 black company books. They were K. Nothing special. From what I understand they just got worse from there, so I decided to not read the rest.

I am leaning The Broken Empire/Prince of Thorns. Seems to rank consistently high on other peoples best fantasy lists.

I like that series quite a bit. I've read 5 of them. The first three are probably better but it somewhat depends on what you like. The main character in them is pretty badass.

Ok. It is decided. Finishing my reread of Prince of Nothing and then onto Broken Empire.

In addition to evolutionary biology, I also happen to have some hot takes on pederasty, it if comes up at all.

It's been a while, but from I recall all of this is correct. Dark humor (Black Company) > no humor (Malazan). It's not exactly a nobel prize candidate, but it's good fun imo.

Maybe it has been too long. Malazan has plenty of humor, dark and otherwise. Off the top of my head Kruppe, Tehol and Bug, Iskaral Pust, and pretty much all the Jaghut are all humorous. If that isn't your type of humor that is fine, but saying no humor isnt fair or accurate.

Yeah, almost all Malazan humor are those 3 comic characters. I mean, there are a lot of badass humorous spots but they aren't really all that actually funny.
