You literally quit lifting for years? Christ. Don't do that. Anyway, welcome back how about a nice game of ww.

Hi Mr. k! It's good to be back. No ww, though, I'm pretty sure I still can't handle it.

I'm now sick so slept instead of lifting today. We'll see how long this lasts but I'm hoping to not miss more than a week.

I've been listening to a lot of barbell medicine and have decided to try and stop my lift for a couple of months, get sick and stop for a month cycle. This is also important as we are expecting another little one ~May. So if I don't get some sort of better pattern going now, it's gonna be DYEL+DadBod for life.

So the new plan is to lift unless I really can't and not to miss more than 1 workout in a row. Also to pay attention to session RPE and make sure to not try to push intensity too much too quickly and start feeling pain. For instance, after listening to the recent BBM injury podcast they made it sound like technique doesn't matter as much as people think in regards to injury prevention. But I ended up going too high DLing - ignoring their more important and primary advice that you shouldn't go to weights if something is hurting - it's better to find lighter weights or a similar lift and train that, increasing the load as slowly or as quickly as feels ok.

I'm doing starting strength linear progression (SSLP) and will do so until my lifts stall. My low back has felt tweaked/sore but I'm hoping it continues to get better and more used to this program as I'm working with pretty light weights and after warming up it feels good. However, I plan to try and keep good form and do lower weight if I feel any significant discomfort during a session.

One of my main purposes this time of logging is that maybe I will take video to get feedback but also to record my set RPEs and session RPEs somewhere. I'm not currently doing that.

Last session was:
LBBS - 165x5x3
DB OHP - 35x5x3
Pendlay Rows - 135x5x3

Oh, also I've been avoiding BB OHP and also flat bench in favor of incline. I think I will switch to flat bench and BB OHP. As long as the weight starts light enough I'm hoping it will help and not hinder any neck issues as I relearn form with lowish weights.

Welcome back!

Update on the Yugosetosity of your deadlifts and hip torquatulence of your squats?

Congrats on proto-Ygos#2! Are you finding out the sex? By rough mental math it seems like you could do the cfDNA test right around now were you so inclined.

Umm, if I understand correct...I plan to DL in sets without resetting/standing up between reps.

As far as squat form I am squatting with my legs a bit further our than shoulder width I think and with my feet only a bit angled. So I think the answers are "no" and "yes" .

Thanks! Another girl, we did have that test done a few weeks ago. Zelda wants her sister's name to be her best friends' names, basically. Although after she learned she'd have a sister she first insisted to name her "baby grandpa Ken". I tried to shorten it to "grandpa Ken" or "Ken" but, no, "baby grandpa Ken."

Not sure how we're going to pick a name. Our "finalists" from last time around don't seem right for #2 somehow.

Session #3

LBBS 170x5x3 @6 or something - it's hard to gauge this. With a gun to my head I'd say I could have done 5 more or something, hopefully even more than that with a gun to my head, but my form would have gotten so so bad.

Bench 135x5x3 @6 or something

DL 225x5 @7 maybe?

Back felt pretty good lifting. Going to avoid noceboing myself and say it will feel great tomorrow!

Congrats on the good news, and good health to all the Yugos!

Enough about that though, and onto what we all want to really ask- how's the $220 gym bag holding up?

Thanks!

Quite well. It is a very nice bag. Also helps that it sits on the floor of my basement and doesn't need to do much.

You and Monte are both definitely inspirations to me that being a dad with young children != physical suckitude.

Cha is an inspiration too but in terms of there being no real limits on getting stronger as I get older .

DT is an inspiration that everything will be k. K? k.
