Re: You're going to suffer, but you're going to be happy about it: Gizmo's log
I won't comment on the workouts, as I have a different attitude towards it. I think working out pretty strenuously and dieting at the same time sometimes causes problems itself. IE : energy gap. I'd focus on some cardio and dieting first, then maybe some lifting with that kettlebell thing in a later stage, but that'll cause a huge derail/argument in the thread so let's leave that alone.
I have some suggestions on diet though. Your comments on cooking and protein intake make this a little difficult, as suggesting low fat mayo chicken salad and beef jerky may not sit well. Anyway... as far as cooking goes :
#1 Cook, or learn to cook, or force yourself to cook. It can be a pain, but once you start learning/just doing it, it'll be easier. You can make things in large batches and eat them throughout the week for a few days at a time. You need a nice menu of different low-calorie high-protein foods that you like. Get the junk out of the house - bad snacks, bad drinks, etc. If your fiance likes them, fine, but avoid eating/snacking on them. Let him eat them, and you eat your stuff. It'll help immensely.
#2 Pack your lunches. Bring food with you so you have good meals. If you can't eat anything decent because no fridge or microwave or anything, find options that you can travel with. Protein bars or something along those lines you can throw in your bag and eat provide options. The biggest problem most people have is healthy eating is not convenient. Fries are easier to get than a chicken breast and steamed broccoli, and it's cheaper. Make your options convenient.
#3 Ease into the diet. If you jump right into it day one with a hardcore attitude it can make it tough. There's nothing wrong with eating a "bad" thing once in a while to keep your sanity at first. It builds upon itself though, and after a few weeks you'll realize you don't even want that fatty greasy stuff. Personally, I don't think I'll ever stop eating french fries, but I definately dont' want them as often as I did. (And I stopped dipping them in mayo. Bad habit I picked up somewhere)
Not sure what's in those smoothies, but be careful, some of them can have many more calories than you'd expect. Good luck, and I'm also sorry to hear about your mom, Gizmo.

Giz,
any reason you can't cook or bake some meat/fish and throw on top of whatever you're cooking for/with LK? Really, cooking e.g. some chicken breasts would take you basically no extra time at all if you're already cooking.
Hopefully LK's health issues aren't related to being a veggie...

I have friends who despise cooking. They don't know/don't want to know. It's actually pretty common, more and more so these days.

We're thinking his stomach issue falls into the family of irritable bowel diseases (chron's, diverticulitis, or ulcerative colitis). He has a pill-cam study set up soon-ish that I'm excited for cause it's really neat. So it's not related to being veggie, in my expert medical opinion.
I just can't stand handling raw meat (nyuck nyuck). Every once in awhile I'll buy some precooked chicken from trader Joe's but it's really dry and kind of gross. Maybe one day I'll get over it for the good of my weight loss. I am trying really hard to get over my aversion to the texture of eggs, though.
6/6 Food log:
- English muffin - 130
- 1 tbsp peanut butter - 100
- 1 tbsp lemon curd - 100
- iced latte - 120
- 3 Black bean and cheese tacquitos (not fried) - 233
- Chicken salad - 432 (including butter lettuce, raddichio, spinach, kale, carrots, broccoli, and feta)
- smoothie - 294 (including scoop whey protein, cup raspberries, 1/2 frozen banana, cup of spinach, unsweetened coconut milk)
Total calories: 1408
Plus I did the skipping/walking.
Today I'm planning on another circuit of KBs + bodyweight involving swings, goblet squats, dead lifts, dips and push ups.

Not sure why eating meat is necessary for weight loss, .
The circuit you did seems cool I guess. Tbh I don't do almost any of those things so idk. I did some swings at Cha's last night but kept losing count and stuff. Last time I tried KB swings though I basically couldn't do them right at all so it was cool to just bust a bunch out.
I had appendicitis for 2 years and thought it was IBS (although my life was pretty much fine 90% of the time), so yeah, who knows what he could have.
Where do you do your workout given that you are deathly afraid of guys like jdock checking you out and guys like SM trying to ignore you but checking you out anyway?

Re: You're going to suffer, but you're going to be happy about it: Gizmo's log
At one time I allegedly was good at reading souls (coming out on top at a STTF PLHE tourny with the likes of Raptor, FieryJustice/Jonathan Little, Good2cu, TheUsher/Alan Sass, Irieguy, Adapthy/Peter Jetten, Good2cu/Andrew Robl, Daliman/meh. Mr. Gandalf wasn't at that one I don't think though, but I'm sure I would have read deeply into his soul too, he was just starting cash games at the time I believe and hadn't won 2342343 million dollars yet.

I swear I had the exact same thought.
Also the title of the log seems familiar, where is it from?

Re: You're going to suffer, but you're going to be happy about it: Gizmo's log
Today I did: (using 25# kettlebell and 8# DB)
10 of each
Goblet Squats w/kb
Push ups (did five from my toes!)
KB dead lifts
KB swings
Dips
get ups w/DB (I could only do these for 2 rounds and then I pussied out)
x 5
forgot to start my timer. oh well.
Kinda binged on fruit today (and some chocolate) a few kiwis and a ton of watermelon. Watermelon tasted so good.
