Something that helped someone I know who had a similar self control issue with alcohol was to divide every drink into two drinks and treat them as two separate drinks. Only pour half the beer into the glass, and treat that as a single beer. When you finish it, pour the second half into the glass, and treat that as a second beer.

Drink them slowly and with water. Use the water to satiate your thirst, and use the alcohol as the enjoyable finish. When you are ready to drink, if you would have normally drank 150ml of alcohol, drink 100ml of water first, then switch to the alcohol for the last 50ml.

You will train yourself to consume smaller serving sizes of alcohol this way, while still being able to enjoy it often.

Congrats on the no beer day and GL with your interview. I also do the water drinking with alcohol thing that Chop suggested not so much because of self control issues but just because I get really dehydrated from alcohol, even if it is just a couple of drinks.

Thanks chop and rexx, that's good advice and I need to drink more water anyway, I will put it to the test if I decide to have a beer tonight after all.

I feel like I smashed the job interview so that's great, probably will have to do an assessment and another round of interviews so Ill have to start preparing for those pretty soon. Not sure if Im going to wait till they tell me Im good or if I should start in advance. Im somehow terrified of assessments even though I usually score pretty good on them.

This week is my #forreal week, my start last week was mostly to test the waters and just get me logging again a bit but Ill start some form of exercise this week as well, Ill browse youtube a bit tonight to find some suitable exercises.

Obligatory food pic of my lunch (grilled chicken + lettuce + cherry tomatoes + cucumber + vinaigrette + emmentaler);

So yah, we went out to celebrate last night. Not because of my job interview but my fiancée just got word of her first (book) publication yesterday which was kinda celebration worthy. We shared an app, I had a reasonably light main course and skipped dessert. Did have a few alcoholic beverages in the restaurant though.

Coffee in the morning, fries and some snacks for lunch and a great zucchini lasagna for dinner (instead of pasta you use slices of zucchini). It was ****ing great I tell you, I would not have guessed it before I ate it.

Eggplant also makes a good pasta replacement

Thanks Aidan, will definitely try.

Wednesday log:

That apple entry seems like total dog**** so Ill have to swap that out. Doing reasonably well, its very busy at work which makes it hard for me to start my work out routine because Im pretty fried once I get home. Did pass the first job interview round and am through to round 2 which is an assessment. I feel like I need to prepare myself but its kind of a shot in the dark wrt what they'll ask from me.

Work out before you go to work, then.

Less excuses, more cherrytomaatjes imo

Thursday log

Time for some reflection after my first week.

Things I did do;
Log as accurately as possibly every day of the week
Contain my food intake successfully
Contain my alcohol intake just a bit

Things I didn't do:
Get that darned alcohol out of the weekdays
Work out
Wake up early (didn't mention this one as a goal but it has been lingering in the background).

Obviously chopstickisright.jpg and I need to do ***SOMETHING*** about that laziness/excuse. Before sunday I will have posted ***THREE*** (tres, drei, trois, drie) exercises that I will perform before going to work in the AM. This should be ***EASY*** as I only report into work at around 9:30 AM. These exercises will not take much longer than 30ish minutes but will be a ***GOOD*** start of the day.

Yak,

You just reminded me of something I haven't made in a while. Kebabs are great - I like adding in a bunch of whatever veg I have around.

Definitely, making them with anything else then chicken requires some extra skills imo but tbh I haven't tried in a bit.

Friday:

Saturday:

Had a fun reasonable party on friday but then had a wine tasting that started at around 4 PM which spiraled into more drinking. Might have under repped alcohol intake but its really hard to accurately guesstimate drinking at a wine tasting imo.

Tomorrow morning I will start a routine of:
Push ups (3x10)
Dips (3x10)
Chin up (3x10)

Why don't you post 20 or so meals you like and can cook and put them out for the crowd to bash.

Rota them over a couple of months and game on.

Will try and post some more pics/recipes, my grocery game is definitely weak at this point so I need to fix that as well which is probably easier with recipes.

So I did some exercises this morning, needless to say Im not capable of doing 3x10 pushups, nor chin ups. I've just started by doing till I couldn't anymore, the dips were fine, chin ups were only a few half way and pushups were 3x10 half ones. Im so terribly weak in my upper body, its shameful. Anyone with some advice on what to start with for some good upper strength basics ? I might just start doing isolated dumbbell exercises at this point.

Thanks, the marriage is next year and we've had quite the days organising some stuff as were getting married in France. Waking up in Epernay today and going home, Im restarting the logging again and will reflect a bit on what went wrong (other then lol me).

Having a few terrible days log wise, doing reasonable caloric wise by abstaining until dinner but have been going out to eat a few days in a row now and I have no clue whatsoever how to log those. Its practically impossible to come up with a close estimate for that and Im bummed out about it. Ill see how I will fix that, eating out less is probably a good idea.

Find a similar item on MFP, then enter double the servings because restaurant portions/ingredients.

Also stop making excuses. lol "it's practically impossible" no it isn't.

Notice how your Wednesday beer made the difference between being over vs under your count for the day?

Swap out beer & milk for water and you'll be saving 500 kcal a day. That's half a kilo per week you could be losing.

Probably going to give up on you pretty soon. Your sub-par apple game isn't helping. When was the last time we even saw a cherrytomaatje?

Yeah Im slacking hard, not even trying to find or call them excuses because its totally on me for ****ing it up, however, Im still posting here which is one of the most important things right now for me. This won't just go away and I will need to make a legit effort at getting it right. I can't stand the fact that I can't get it done so Im definitely not giving up on myself yet. I've started working out in the mornings which is great but its all not very organized. I've had a somewhat bad weekend with lots of eating out (which wasn't the problem) and lots of alcohol (which kind of was, damn these liquid calories). I've bought my yoghurts and cherry tomatoes again yesterday. I've got a big party coming up Saturday so I might as well just hit the under a few times this week.

BTW, we don't have a huge apple variety, its jonagolds, pink ladies or fuij's and thats pretty much it afaik. Ill try and look at some other super market, what are good apples? I hadn't eaten fruit in ages so I was happy to eat a piece of fruit a day at least.
