Ya, the book is old and very outdated. He doesnt really follow how the book is set up anymore for training people. The concepts are the same but the template is different
I know Matt Gary also does powerlifting coaching online/remotely. He is the coach for the 3 that went to the Arnolds from here (2 of which are going to Raw Worlds). I think he coaches a few others up here. I have no idea about cost though, as you guys are my coaches.
Oh, I forgot about Matt Gary, he seems like he would be an awesome coach. He charges $100 an hour for online consultation and he says like a full training cycle might take him 3 hours or so
So after this week i have 2 training weeks left and then meet week. I had to miss a week of training because i was sick so my training cycle is kind of messed up. For the main lifts, this week is 5s, then it was supposed to taper down to 4s, 3s, then 2s the week before meet week. Since i missed a week, I only have time to do two more weeks. What do you guys think would be the best way. Do 4s then 3s, 3s then 2s or 4s then 2s leading up to meet week?
I would have harassed you if you had skipped that meet.
If you hit 1400+ at this meet, I think the terms our bet allow me to lift at my next local meet to determine the winner. They still havent set the damn date on that yet.
The meet director emailed me back today and said the local meet will be in June. I hope its early June so I have some prep time before nationals.
Damn. That sucks you'll only have like a month or so between meets.
It'll probably be about the same amount of time between meets as last year if we do it the first week in June. That actually worked well for me last year.
Seems like a lot of work leading up to the meet. I try to cutoff any workouts on the Tuesday before the meet (if meet is on Saturday). I think it is a personal thing for each lifter. Have you lifted like that prior to a meet before or are you just trying something new?
I did that exact thing before my last meet but I had to fit it into 5 days since my last meet was on a Friday. This coming meet is on a Sunday so i have like 8 days to get the work in. I think that since i never have more than 3 days rest between squat and deadlift variations or 2 days rest between bench days, this works better for me than taking like 5 or 7 days off but it's hard to say for sure since it would take a lot of meets to test out that theory
I wouldn't change it now if you did it last time. This way you will know if your programming sucks or not. Changing the lead up this time would add another unnecessary variable to finding out if your programming was good or not.
Alright I drank tonight so first reg who posts in here pm me your email address and I'll PayPal $25. I am so damn weak. It's not even like I went out for something special. Just a friend texted me early in the day to see if I wanted to drink tonight.
Plus I was supposed to workout today and now I'll have to push it back til tomorrow hungover and it will **** up my momentum heading into my meet. I blame whoever invented bud light
