Re: Tony's Weight Loss Thread

Hey Tony - I think you're doing well. There is a clear improvement since you started posting.

How much water are you drinking? You don't include it in your posts so I'm not sure. Firstly water is key for weight loss, it's necessary to metabolize food. Also, cold water helps to shrink your stomach and make you feel more satisfied - drinking a full glass of cold water before your meals might help you feel satiated fasted. It takes the brain about 20 to register that the body is no longer hungry, so eating slowly and drinking before your meal can help your brain catch up a little.

Looks like your diet is lacking fibre. Fibre helps make you feel full for longer. Fruit is good but vegetables (generally) are better - less sugar (carbs) more fiber.

Don't get down if you have a bad day - write it off and move on. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the comments everyone.

AA,

I drink 2-3 gallons of water per day. I've always drunk tons of water.

Re: Tony's Weight Loss Thread

Tony you will have a lot to be proud of in a short time. Far and away the most important thing is to NEVER have a terrible day ever again. The BBQ is NOT a terrible day. Sometimes you'll eat poorly and too much, but what you did probably cost you very little in terms of weight gain. When you eat 10k calories in a day though, you're probably literally costing yourself 1-2 lbs.

If there's something you REALLY want to eat, do it. Make sure you understand why you want to eat it, and what the implications of eating it are...

You aren't going to learn to eat a perfect diet overnight. It's pretty damn hard coming from where you've been (I know,) and it takes a lot of thought and commitment. If you do try to just eat PERFECTLY at all times, you'll almost undoubtedly fail. Worry about optimizing your diet over time, not right away, and just try to eat healthy food with a good variety and plenty of protein. Also, exercise will help a ton and just increase your overall wellbeing more than you think. Walking a mile or two a day will have huge rewards for both weight loss and health. Beginning some type of lifting program will make you feel stronger, and look better SO FAST.

I'd also suggest that you stop counting calories after a few weeks once you start to get a reasonable idea what a healthy daily diet consists of. Counting calories is kind of pointless beyond getting yourself on the right track IMO.

Re: Tony's Weight Loss Thread

Weighed myself this morning. 294 lbs.

I don't know if I was exactly 300 at the start of this (the 300 weigh in came a couple of weeks before I started) so I don't really know how significant this progress is.

I really don't want to make this a "diet". I am sick and tired of being unhealthy and want this to be a lifestyle change.

The first big test will be the week of the 11th when I am going to Vegas.

Yeah thats the worst...I got a goal to hit by 29th and I just booked a trip the 22nd, its gonna be interesting. Just remember there are good choices for food regardless of where you are.

I hope I follow my own advice.

Good Luck, hopefully Ill catch you in weight soon enough

Re: Tony's Weight Loss Thread

Good work tony. You're making alot of progress. I myself have tried to start a new diet and a new way of living. It was hard for me for the first three weeks, but after that I got into the flow of things.

You're doing great. I hope you keep up the good work - you'll be very happy with your results.
