Taking Supplements on a Plane (Domestic Flight) Taking Supplements on a Plane (Domestic Flight)

I purchased one of the Jet Blue all-you-can-fly passes so I will doing a lot of flying over the next month. Has anyone ever taken supplements on a trip in baggies (the bottles take up too much space to make packing reasonable)? Any problems?

My concern is that L-Glutamine looks a lot like blow, and creatine looks like what I would imagine crystal meth looks like. I'd like to think security officials would have easy methods for determining they are in fact not illicit drugs, but if this is not the case I'd rather not learn this at the airport while trying to catch a flight.

Also, I got busted for simple possession (had a bowl with resin in it) my freshman year of college so I'm one of the people that gets pulled out of line and hand searched every time I fly (at least I assume this is why, I could just be really unlucky).

I'm thinking I should cut the labels off of the bottles and include them in the zip-lock bags I pack them in, but maybe I'm just being paranoid.

Thanks ahead of time.

Just check your baggage and I expect you'll be fine

If you can keep them in the bottles, I'd def do so.

I've taken protein powders and had no problem, but if it's a white substance like creatine/glutamine then you're def better off keeping them in the bottle.

Go a bit earlier and try to get through security asap. I'd phone up the airport or whatever authority it is you deal with and double check if you can take them on board. There's been a lot of changes in the past few yrs and things have got a lot more stringent, in the UK anyway. Be a shame to have to dump them.

I've flown many times with supplements: pills in a plastic case (no labels), protein powder (choc & vanilla) in unmarked tupperware. Never had an issue or been questioned. I carry on most of the time and think once I was picked for a random search and don't remember them even questioning it.

Just make sure your supplements don't also accompany any resin coated containers in your travel bag and you should be fine.

Somewhat related story

One time on the way back from England I had a ton of cadbury bars stuffed in a nalgene in my carry on. When Im going through security all of a sudden the guy looking at the xray machince looks like he was having a heart attack.

Apparently sticks of chocolate in a nalgene look exactly like a roll of dynamite or plastic explosives.

I think checking them through would definately be best suggestion, packing the labels with them couldnt hurt.
