Oh yeah I know I'm screwed on that. One problem is my scale at home sucks for accuracy. Or my floor is in the bathroom uneven or something. That's why I liked the printout. I'll put the scale in my living room and take a pic of it tomorrow (not that we don't trust each other it's just that a pic is always nice).

I'll do the straight $100.

Ok well this is even after sweating out a few lbs at my group training thing.



Maybe the mushy floor in my bathroom was distorting it more than I thought. Also I know I'm pretty bloated right now. But anyway - I will weigh myself on the 14th next month - same conditions.

So you gained 10lbs over the month?

We can both weigh in on the 15th as its a Wednesday. I am fine with 14th but I will weigh in on the 15th.

Little suspiscious about last months weigh in by you though 10 lbs means 10 beers ad getting sloppy every night

I think the bathroom was lying to me a little. But seriously 5 days ago I was 5 lbs lower. I know I'm bloated right now for whatever reason. Even like 2 nights ago I was at 240. My body is weird.

Started the diet in earnest after friend's 40th bday party Sat. night. Work couldn't be more stressful right now and when I'm dieting I seriously run the risk of snapping at my coworkers and messing up the respect I've built up here. But I'm hanging in there, biting my tongue... and then last night the mom of the kid I've helped raise comes at me completely out of the blue with some big heavy talk she needs to have.

But she won't tell me what it's about. So I get to just stew on it all day. Says she wants to say it just right, has been dreading it, and doesn't want to hurt my feelings. I have literally zero idea what this could possibly be about. We don't have that much contact anymore. But when we did it was fine.

FML. I can't take all this stress and feel like I'm going to snap from dieting. I'm supposed to be architecting a whole new system from scratch and I need to be able to concentrate. Can't do it.

Eat during the day and fast after work? Gl with that talk, when I met her she seemed like she cares alot about things but has a hard time making well thought through decisions.

We both have the same issue stress leads to eating. Its an excuse one I deal with also.

247.4. Woo hoo! Lmk where to ship the $$. And I still owe charity from last month.

The bad news is with work and all the **** going on with my personal life I really haven't had any energy or desire to try to diet. Also going out with friends (= beer and food) has been a nice distraction. The good news is I've been killing myself lifting and doing that group training class 5 days/week. So I'm in good shape muscularly and cardio-vascularly. Just need to lose the fat.

That's what all the fatties say imo.

Seriously though, any thoughts on other motivational tools besides $$ to get you to eat fewer calories and actually lose weight consistently and then keep it off? Would it be helpful to log everything you eat for a week and then have help deconstructing it to something that is still reasonable/doable for you (taking into account some drinking/etc.) while getting you to a lifestyle that maintains weight loss (and a lower eventual weight)?

I know how to lose weight as I've done it plenty of times in the past. It's just hard and I need to be in the right place to get up the momentum and weather through the mood swings, etc. With the curve-ball thrown at me by my friend, this just hasn't been the right time. But I am finding solace in lots of exercise. So I feel good about that.

I am going out of town this weekend, then in 2 weeks I go to Alaska for 16 days. A lot of that will be backcountry hiking so I probably will do ok there. When I get back I want to work up to doing 6 days of the group training. At about 1000 calories a pop that should do wonders. Also obviously I'll try to do a reasonable diet, but one that doesn't make me snappy at my coworkers, etc.

Suzzer - knowing how to do something and doing it for the rest of your life are two very different things (not losing weight the rest of your life, but eating a sustainable diet that puts you at a weight you're happy with).

My guess is that you don't plan very far in advance, or have very actionable milestones in your plan and thus, while you may (or may not) know how to create a good system for sustained weight loss and then compliance, you simply aren't doing so. You're just complaining about timing and other extraneous stuff that honestly has nothing to do with whether you can or can't lose weight. It may make it harder/easier, but honestly, the hardest part is coming up and complying with an actual plan. Not a minute plan, or an hourly plan, or daily plan, at least a weekly plan repeated or a monthly plan repeated.

The last time I lost weight I started at 270 and had a lot less muscle than I have now. I've gained 20-30 lbs back - some of that muscle - almost all of it in 6 months when I started my new job. Starting a job always seems to be a problem for me until I get in some routine. Obviously I still have some weight I want to lose, but it's not like I'm yo-yo-ing up and down constantly and achieving new highs.
