Is US Am Q your next? Assume that's what you are referencing in 19 days

I've got on video and my hips have slowed dramatically since I've stopped playing. Need work on loosening up the hips so I can fire better

Oh and I assume you are referencing Supple Leopard with the Starrett videos? I need to read on vacation

Yea that's next then the mid Am stuff happens like 6 weeks later giving me time to make some needed swing tweaks. Might even buy new irons too.

I just watch all of his Youtube vids like this one

Looks low on upper back stuff. You could flip squat and dl days and add back accesory to chest or shoulder day. I actually like doing chest and back on the same day a lot.

How are you going to decide on irons to get? I am thinking about getting new ones also but don't know how to go about it. I am bad and using some old ass titleist dci 962s

You'll be happy to hear I have 962B's in the bag.

I hit a handful the other day including Callaway, Mizuno, Nike, and Titleist. It's going to boil down to launch angle. I'd like to get some higher launching long irons while flattening the flight of my shorter irons.

Was thinking I could just man up and do back work on Thursday.

Ran 23:48 (WR!) 5k this morning works out to like 7:42 miles I think.

Splits were

7:32
8:01
7:38
6:33 (final "kick")

I keep bitching out on the second mile.

Like this stuff. Started this week. I'm 45 so I need to find a way to keep hips loose.

Good poast.

Gonna read Supple leopard and maybe Bigger a Leaner Stronger on vacation next week

Survived 36 holes in one day in 100 degree Texas heat but I was #TeamPushCart so it kinda counts. Super pleased with my fitness throughout the day and I played much better as the holes went on.

Back in the gym today, pulled singles at 245 and did heavy abs. I'll just keep upping the singles 5lbs every week. Really enjoy the momentum linear progression creates. I do need to supplement some DL assistance exercises but I'm too scared of serious DOMS at the moment. Have 30 days until my next tourney so it's now or never.

Weighed in at 157 this morning so weight is holding steady.

Ran 5 miles this weekend at a slow place then ate everything in sight Saturday. Proceeded to sleep 11 hours which was much needed.

Felt great on run this morning

23:21 5k (WR!)

Splits were
7:38
7:50
7:14
7:00 (final .1 "kick")

Second mile did a better job of concentrating on keeping up pace somewhat.

Also think I figured out why my ball striking has struggled lately. Have three weeks until my next qualifier so I'll be trying to ingrain those changes and hope they hold up enough under pressure.

Good start to the week. Did the 5k yesterday morning and a chest/back workout that night.

Today did DLs (singles up to 250), heavy abs, and then squash for 45 minutes. My cardio is very good right now, wasn't breathing heavy at all during squash.

Another good day

Press 6x110
Even managed 5 neutral grip chins which I haven't tried in forever due to my shoulder. No pain which was nice.

Practiced for about 90 minutes but it wasn't as focused as I would like. I know what I need to work on yet I tend to half ass it on the range at times.

So far this week

Monday
Incline bench 5x140

Tuesday
Deadlift singles 3x255

Wednesday
Press 5x115

Opened up a massive callous on my left hand so I've had to work around that a bit. I think my plan is going to continue to do 1 strength exercise followed by 2-3 sets of 8-10 reps of a similar movement followed by higher rep bro work.

Haven't run since Saturday, legs recovering but needed a break.

Having a good week both diet and exercise.

Monday
Deadlift singles 3x260

Tuesday
Incline bench 4x145

Wednesday
Squat 5x155 - easing my way up

Thursday
Press 3x120
8 neutral grip chins

I'm basically peaked out on upper stuff until I start eating more, stop spending countless hours in 105 degree weather, and get more than 6 hours of sleep. Tons of room left on lower stuff especially since I've run once in last 12 days. Gonna get back on that after qualifier on Tuesday next week.

Good day today, qualified for the State mid Am. That's 2 for 3 this summer with one more (USGA Mid Am) left. Said before 2/4 is a great success and 3/4 would be epic. Game needs a lot of work but I'm getting there.

Back in gym tomorrow.

Nice week..update on club champ?

Any experience with TPI screening? Thinking about doing it to identify my weaker spots. I'm older than you (I think) and in spite of stretching/lifting this year need to strengthen/flex some golf specific spots

3rd...38 putts in round 2 to lose by 4.

As long as TPI has improved I don't see what it could hurt but I bet you could self diagnose via the interwebs.

That doesn't surprise me, I think a lot of commercially sold golf centric fitness plans are awful. Hell I watch the vids of Spieth at wherever he goes in Dallas and I shake my head. Rory is a guy who took his body to another level and how so? He picked heavy **** up from the floor and on his back.

No substitute for the main lifts when done properly.

Been a long while...stop posting about the same time I came down with Shingles due to my suppressed immune system from all my meds. That knocked me on my ass for a while but mainly I was stressed the whole time due to having to be off all my meds which had kept me in remission the past couple years. Luckily I managed and am now back in good health with just some nasty shingles scars on my side.

Been messing around in the gym with timed sets vs. a specific weight or # of reps. Pretty brotastic but I like it. Haven't done near enough cardio and I still eat horribly 2-3 days out of the week, otherwise I'm pretty happy with myself.

Work is going great, getting a big promotion which should actually lead to less stress and more money. Golf is pretty slow, even though the weather has been great I have barely played. Might not even play in the big statewide amateur events this summer. Didn't really like how seriously I took everything last year.
