Skater Squats- 3x5, with counter weight and 9kg sandbell as base
OHP- 1x7x45kg, 2x4x50kg

I do wonder sometimes if I'm wasting my time doing skater squats... they are recommend for ultimate players but meh, just not gassed after them like after a squat or DL so I question how much they're actually doing for me..

On teh way out now, will probably have a couple of pints

Went to an open training session for the top mixed team in London today called Herd. Was very very windy, but I thought I played ok.. The biggest issue today was definetly fitness, I was totally spent several times... but at this time of the season I kinda expect that so I guess thats fine.

Fire open sessions start Tuesday! And Kpow trials have been announced, first two on 16th and 28th Jan

Gym;
Squat- 105kg PR
Bench- 67.5kg PR
Split squat- 30kg DBs PR
Wide grip pull ups- 3,3,4 PR

First time doing wide grip, but couldn't resist logging every lift as a PR

First set of squats here, used a bench as a base to hit depth, is that a good idea? Do ppl do that much? These look ok?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-Groq_z6yU

Also been thinking about carrying on with the bulk until 14th Dec, giving me exactly a month to lose excess fat before first trial... at 2lbs a week, that should be job done...

Lower the bench, or preferably get rid of it. Drive the bar straight up, don't let your hips shoot back and the bar come forward (core bracing, keeping tight). To get to parallel you're probably going to have to squat between your legs better, hard to tell with the bench in the way.

Fire open training, first of the year- went really really well. It was a good session, well planned out and well led, and I really enjoyed just doing some breakforce drills against some high quality players, without the distractions of having to run a session or worrying about what other people were getting up to etc.
I was super happy with my own game, I cut deep alot and got thrown to alot, received everytime and didn't throw any turns. And when I decided to go deep, there was no way anyone else was staying with me. All them PR's in squat and DL paying off! I'm pretty pumped about it, and looking forward to the future now, more sessions and trials are coming soon!

Went down in DL and squat to focus on form. A 1 rep DL vid here, to me this looks pretty good..?

And first rep of squats here, down to 90kg, lost the bench, concentrating on shoving knees way out and keeping core tight.

Clapham just opened the trialing process for applications so after thinking about it, sent one in. The worst that can happen is they flat out say no, the best that can happen is I gain great experience playing agasint the best players in the country, which happened last year. Putting my ego on the line a little bit, but trying not to let something as stupid as pride get in the way of my development.

Not to mention the .000001% chance I have of actually making the squad... stranger things have happened!

Squat: looks decent! you're releasing some of your tightness at the bottom. so i think going a bit less deep for now (you'll still be at or below parallel) will be ok in the meantime while you learn to keep that under control. keep focusing on driving your whole foot through the ground and driving straight up (traps into bar) to keep a straighter bar path.

deadlift: very solid. make sure you hold it at the top for a beat or two for a good training effect, but looks like you got your hips in the right spot to start

good luck with the trial!

Had an open training session with Flump, a fairly high quality team... the weather was horrendous, all blustery and a monsoon type shower started halfway through the session... and the ground was awful, the rugby players had completley muddied it up... and then the game play was really unpredicatble, I couldn't really get into the game or figure out what was going on the whole time... so not a great session I guess...

Brixton training in the morning, went ok, though again it was windy and hard to get used to the soft and sticky ground... had the gf's party in the evening, so lots of cake and beer.... I organized a bunch of us to do a treasure hunt for it, she really enjoyed it and it was mostly all good vibes, so pretty happy with how that went!

Fire training, went pretty well, big focus on manD which I think as one of my strong points during the drills. Then in games, threw a few turnovers this week, which didn't happen last week, but still really enjoyed it.
The highlight was when I called myself first cut from the stack(while being marked by a guy I used to play with a few years ago), recieved the disc under, hucked a beautiful low roll curve backhand deep and was caught just outside the endzone, I bombed deep for the guy who had just caught my huck to hit me with a little pop pass for the score, great moment, and seemed to be noticed from the sideline!

whoops, no updates for a while

The last week I havn't been doing much(any) lifting, but playing a bit.
Just had an outdoor tournament with Brixton, we did ok given the squad we had, and everyone was pretty hungover from the social yesterday.
I was called as a handler for most of the tournament, which was good experience for me getting lots of disc touches.

And last wkend we played an indoor tourney, where we came 4th, pretty good result, though we did have a pretty strong squad, and expected to do well. Again I was a main handler there, had a similar role where I was mostly a reset player, feeding the disc to someone else who maybe has a little more experience, or maybe just a little more confidence, to take on the big throws.
I have been considering that maybe I need to take on big throws a bit more, but I guess every team needs a role-player who's happy to just reset/recycle the disc, so i'm happy to do that if needed.

Cut starts tomorrow!! I'm fat.

I was voted MVP and also had 5 scores, highest on the team, while mainly handling and being a reset player, so pretty happy with that.

Bit of a meltdown day, last day of school so all parents were handing over chocalate and stuff, hard to resist after a point... but not drinking is goona be a huge advantage to me over the next month, keeps my mind clear, and I know I've ****ed up, and can now limit the damage, if I were drinking I'd just keep piling on the cals and then be hungover tomorrow and not train.

As a bonus, heres one of my scores from yday, toasting some poor kid up the line.

Ok, tomorrow IS going to be under 2.5kcals, and there will be a lifting session and a sprint session. Its on.
