Seems like the bigger your leg:torso ratio is, the better sumo is for you. But it also seems like a high femur:tibia ratio hurts you because of the knee angle.
There's a formula out there in the intertubes where you plug in your torso, arm, and leg lengths and it tells you which you should do. You can probably find it pretty easily. Pretty obviously should be taken with a grain of salt, but I think it's mildly interesting.
My sumo hate is based almost entirely on the conjecture that it isn't as good for aesthetics as conventional. The one time I pulled sumo I pulled ~20 lbs less than my PR and it was like RPE 7.5. If I actually wanted to be good at powerlifting I'd absolutely at least compete with sumo.
I certainly think people don't warmup their upper body nearly enough when it comes to bench work. I certainly didn't use to, and now my bench feels its best with all the warmup and prehab work
Man, USPA's meet list is incredibly sparse. There's like 5 meets in 2015 and they're all in CA (slight exaggeration). How likely is it that they add a significant amount of meets over the next few months? How likely is it they have something within say 2 hours of Boston in the spring time frame? I just wanna go to Vegas...
Wow. That is for sure the fakeB/BtM approved technique. Just need to verify if he is using the BtM approved warmup scheme. If he is using both, we will sue.
World Jr and sub-Jr equipped world champs is this week (lol equipped PL). Brett Gibbs lifts on friday, word is he should be good for some world records.
I had no idea the Paralympics included powerlifting. So that must be the mecca of PL meets then? It's def higher up the scale than USPA. They have whole nations rooting for them. But you can only lift there once you gathered enough injuries in the amateur USPA events.
Also nice to know that I total more than at least 1 guy who benches 498@148.
