But seriously, 405 unilateral is nuts.

Isn't it far more normal to have a unilateral that is less than half the bilateral in just about any lift?

No lift, they are high.

Jump to 5:20 for the squat

Its pretty stupid to be squatting that much weight with only one spotter.

When I first watched that video I didn't understand what happened....I don't know if he says what happened in the rest of the video or not. So I asked in the comment section.

He was going for a double that the monolift operator apparently wasn't consciously aware of so when he pulled it back, Duffian decided to rack it but the operator decided to bring it back out and he had zero tension expecting the monolift to be there.

Even with spotters, realistically, could that have been saved based on what happened? I don't think so.

With the proper amount of spotters, yes it could be saved. There was enough time for side spotters to take the load from the lifter.

ETA: He starts talking about what happened during the lift around the 3:15 mark. He does mention that he lacked the normal number of spotters, so at least he realized that mistake.

Doesn't appear to be any injuries, just dropped the bar with a crapton of weight on it. Worth a watch, at least from the 5:20 mark.

Correct.

I've been involved with spotting a lot more weight than that several times and despite many failures, we've never had an incident like that. One time we had a super-heavyweight guy start to tip over backwards and start to pass out with 850 on his back. The back spotter caught the lifter and the four side spotters (of which I was one) caught the weight. We stood up the lifter and racked the weight easily. No one was hurt at all.

In a situation like that in the video, I think they'd have been better off with no spotters than to have one guy trying to back spot that much. They were very lucky no one got hurt.

seems like the main **** up is never telling the rack operator how many reps. Always have to tell them what you're doing, and if it's not sure, you'll signal.

lol monolifts tho.

There's not a whole lot the spotter can do there - lucky they didn't have collars on!

Anyone mind jumping over to my log to recommend a 2-3x/week intermediate bench program for me?

927 DL @ 223 bw for his 2nd attempt.

For his 3rd attempt, he basically had something like 960 at the top but lost his grip before he got the down command. I cant find that video right now.

Watching the USAPL Wisconsin State Open. Some ~175 girl did 580ish squat for a WR. Some ~240 dude did 800 and 860, both highish looking they gave him the 800 not the 860. I'll try to remember to post some vids later.

How often do you guys program pullups into your routines?

I just realized I haven't programmed for them in over a year, and rarely do them.

I like to just stick to doing heavy rows.

Does anyone grease-the-groove throughout every workout?

I havent done pullups in a long time because I seem to mess up my neck or elbows or shoulders when I do a lot of them, and since I do a lot of different kinds of rows and other back work, I dont think laying off pullups has negatively affected anything I'm doing. So I think you can go without them if you want to.

That being said, I do think pullups are useful if you can do them without breaking yourself, lol. I dont have a strong opinion on GTG or other pullup programming. Busto or FB or one of the other strong pullup guys probably has some good advice on that subject.
