If you like spicy foods, salsas and hot sauces are your friend when cutting. Both good on salads and bland meats like chicken breasts instead of other sauces or dressings since it's virtually no calories.

If you need something to munch on of course celery and carrots or something is the best, but the small thin pretzel sticks are decent too since you get to eat like 30 of them for 100 or so calories.

Another good day. 3 in a row. 5 more until cheat day. Might treat myself to something nice in the next day or two ... a fatty sandwich, couple of slices of pizza, something like that.

Bought some cigarillos 'cos I felt like it & I'd rather succumb to temptation on tobacco than food. Walked two miles, did 3 * 6 perfect pushups (used to do 3 * 15), 3 * 30 second planks (used to do 3 * 75). 3 * 15 lateral raises, 3 * 15 bicup curls each on an extra strong resistance band. Planning to ramp things up and start with 'real' exercise (swimming, running, cycling, lifting) some time next month.

Will see real results at the beginning of August if I keep this up. Looking forward to it.

Days without crisps: fifteen.

Man, just walked for an hour, this time it utterly exhausted me. Time to go easy tomorrow. Ate two chocolate mousses. Each 100kcal. Tasted good. Normally I'd just 'treat' myself to 400kcal crisps + the chocolate mousses ... on a good day Pregnant bump looks smaller but that might just be clothes/variance.

Uh, 100 cal chocolate mousse? 1 cup of chocolate mousse is like 350 calories. It's chocolate and heavy cream ffs. What are you eating?

100 calories would be just from the eggs in chocolate mousse

ETA: yeah, I guess so. I can't remember if I use eggs or not.

low kcal mousse is fairly easy to make with the help of stabilizers (xanthan for example)

Hmmm just cooked two portions of dinner (chicken thighs + mushroom stir fry), one for tomorrow, then kind of ending up eating both of them. Don't feel full right now but we'll see how bad of a mistake that was in twenty minutes :/

why is feeling full so important to you?

you ain't gonna die or your body go into some shock from a few hours of feeling hungry. Sounds like you are just sitting there idling away thinking of food. Worst thing when you diet is having nothing to do and thinking about what you have and have not eaten. Cognitive dissonance about eating will bite you in the ass if you aren't careful.

I was arguing the opposite - if I felt overfull I'd know I had overeaten. Thankfully I don't feel too bad. The stir fry packets were 114 calories each, although I did cook with quite a lot of oil. Probably should have eaten 1.5 portions rather than 2. Going to go for 4 real solid days before treat day. I expect visible improvements by the end of the month.

Days without crisps: sixteen.

As much as I am loathe to say such a thing, the promulgation of disgusting food up in here (stir fry packets?) and almost certain overuse of cooking fat leads me to believe that Dean may need to mosey on over to cashyland for a weekend bootcamp. I'm guessing you'll have to wear a European man thong the entire time, but it should be worth it.

Are you now using a food scale? How you feel isn't a relevant metric -- where the extra dinner put you in terms of your caloric goal is. Does this mean you aren't tracking calories yet?

SS's point is very relevant, by the way; most people can't really trust their "feelings" re: food, especially not those that have #triggers based on certain types of things. I include myself in that category, btw.

A stir fry packet is just a bunch of vegetables like this:

i.e the antithesis of disgusting food. Sorry for not explaining it better.

I'll get a food scale soon but tbh I'm tracking my calories pretty well - the biggest improvement I could make is to get a set of measuring spoons so I can track fat intake ... the difference between 2 tbsp and 4 tbsp fat is big.

You can substitute a soup spoon for a tablespoon and your smaller spoon for a teaspoon and end up being close enough for government work, unless spoon volume ratios are another God awful thing your continent has messed up.

A set of measuring spoons is less than $5 and very useful I think I'll just buy one. And start measuring and logging calories from tomorrow.

Just smoke instead of eat when you get hungry. A cigar will give you an hour to think about if you really want to eat.

And I think a lot of hunger pangs that arise in spite of having had adequate calories at decent intervals, wind down in intensity after an hour or two but when they are at their peak people tend to think they will be as bad and physically unbearable as ones you'd get from a lot longer stretches of not having had any food or being on starvation calories.

Learning to be hungry and not freaking out about it is a useful and necessary skill to learn imo.

I'll eat a piece of fruit when I'm hungry np.

For years I've classified myself as someone who doesn't get addicted to substances. I enjoy cigars but can go a month sans smoking without thinking about it. Same for beer. I took opiates after a couple of operations and never felt anything. This make me happy and perhaps a little smug when I see how many people struggling with nicotine, alcohol or hard drugs.

I'm addicted to food. When other people crave a drink I crave food. Last night I went to bed, wasn't particularly hungry, and thought about ordering some food. Maybe Chinese. Why? Because I like the taste. Food tastes good. Beef and mushroom would taste good. Deep fried chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce taste good. Now, I didn't order food & I actually didn't think about it for long since I'm in a pretty good place but pre diet and for many years I would have. Or I'd go to the supermarket to pick up food for the next day, buy a 100g bag of crisps to 'last me for a few days' then finish it off before bed.

Not ordering food and not seriously considering it is good. But there's a chance I'll have these cravings all my life, or for years. At the moment I'm focused on losing weight so it's easy to resist the urge, but one day, hopefully not too far away, I'll stop actively dieting. And then I have to resist the urge to feast. This is something I need to keep in mind if I want to avoid another 'PartyGirlUK is fat again' in a few years.

OK, maybe that wasn't such a good idea (especially because now that I think of it, I do tend to gorge when I eat this)

How better than junk food? Way less sugar, all those healthy fat/good for heart things. How is something like ice cream or pretzels or chips better than nuts?

Grinding the nuts yourself? Agreed

Nuts are better than sugar/potato chips/other crap, but for the purposes of losing fat they're pretty close to the nut low.

cashy,
getting all nazi about eating fruit seems pretty pointless. An apple certainly blunts hunger somewhat.

ETA: but sure, having veggies in the house to blunt hunger/eat as snacks is definitely something every dieter should do.
