We rally for a few minutes. He's a pusher so actually decent opportunities to get regular lengthy rallies in I just need to cut down my error rate. I'd like to play more rallies but can't dictate to someone who is breadsticking me (even though I think he'd have a lot more fun).

Sounds like you're eating too many breadsticks and bagels. Don't worry about tennis.

It's probably from all the tension you have from ignoring wildebeest and his unrelenting attack on you.

You're relatively new to 2+2.

You ask where you've been?
Dude feels ashamed to say, "I've been hittin' da foodz"
You press again
Again, he doesn't want to admit couch, netflix, pizza and moves on
Others join in asking why he's blowing you off

Now there's some built up intrigue as to why he won't answer, so now he really just sticks to topics that no one's really interested in, like playing tennis with the Professor and Mary Ann

It's just a 2+2 thing, to make something out of nothing.

My theory:
He now knows it's inevitable that wildebeest will weigh less than him in a relatively short time. This super depresses him since before he wasnt "the fat British guy" of the forum.
So now he's pretending wildebeest doesn't exist to cope.

30/08

Kcal: 2166
Protein: 100g

Calories a little higher than I'd like but as long as I maintain 2166 and don't mix in a 3750 kcal days every week I'll lose weight.

Much awaited TENNIS UPDATE and it's an exciting one! Match scheduled tomorrow with my cousin. Have never played him before (he grew up in Manchester). Here is what I know.

- He is younger than me (~29 v. 33)
- He is taller than me (~190cm v. ~174.5cm)
- He is thinner than me (28-30 inch jeans v. 36-38 inch jeans)
- He is more athletic than me (He played football to semi decent Sunday league standard & maybe played in his high school's first or second XI?).

On the plus side....

- He claims not to have played lots of tennis (although he just joined a private club so maybe has played more recently).
- He claims not to be great at tennis (He's super mellow & I think 'not great' encompasses a wide range)

On the genuine plus side....

- He has suffered for a number of years from a rare kidney (maybe liver) illness which requires occasional hospitalisation. Requires medication (although sometimes they try to ween him off it), says it takes quite a lot out of him. Illness comes and goes, hopefully he's feeling it bad.

Possible results run the gamut from very competitive (he's self taught, poor point construction, hits everything with continental grip) to bagels & breadsticks (he has some semblance of technique).

Courts are artificial grass. I played a couple of times on astroturf in high school, other than concrete & hardcourts. Any tips for astro turf?

Cousin 6 - 3 PGUK

Cousin played how I expected. Enough technique to suggest he'd had lessons but lots of errors & not particularly good. He saved game points in the first three games, I got it back to 3-3 then he outlasted me.

The ball bounced *really* low. Much lower with new balls than with old ones on concrete. Wasn't a fun match since we barely had a memorable rally. We barely took a break between games or even between points (and for him not even between first serve & second serve). I might regret that tomorrow, already feeling MUCH more tired than after my previous few matches with The Professor.

Taped the set & the (extensive) post-set hitting session we did (slightly more fun).

Neck/shoulder hurts. Should take it easy on tennis for a while. I know how much you guys love my tennis updates but I might have to take a break until next Monday's match with The Prof (if I'm not feeling better on Sunday evening I should postpone...)

Pguk,

Post some of your tennis videos. Especially vs professor.

I don't think he'd like me posting the videos but I'll shoot you a link via dm/email. Only have a few minutes from this year (+ an hour from today), will record a set or two next time I play him.

Neck hurts like a m'fer, playing tennis was not smart. Of course this is the day two separate people ask me for a match (Jarvis who I took to a breaker last year & a new guy who The Professor typically beats 6-3ish). Grr. Also eating quite a lot today.

Update

Been ill the past few days. Constant headache, weakness. Coinciding with the neck/shoulder injury felt like I had whiplash/concussion although neither of them seems possible.

After two days at home I went for a walk yesterday. A mile to the local park & I was exhausted, found walking back very tough.

Went to bed early, around 21:30? Felt increasingly sick, massive multi-heave vomit bought up what seemed to be chocolate and diced chicken breasts. Felt a little better after that but quickly got worse to the point where I spent considerable time considering calling an Uber to take me to the local E.R. Profuse sweating, accompanied by what felt like a temperature (I should buy a body thermometer) had me feeling grim, perhaps I sweated out the fever/virus/food poisoning because eventually I got to sleep.

Felt rough this morning & had to postpone & then delay tennis with The Professor. He isn't available to play until next week. Neck is improved, but not 100%, physical health is starting to improve, have drunk lots & eaten food. May attempt a couple of miles walking later today, more likely to take it easy, keep hydrated, and hope to get out and about tomorrow.

Diet not good recently. Back on the crisps, restarting the 'x days without crisps', let's get it to 30, minimum. Currently at 0, since I gorged on 'em yesterday (hopefully I brought them back up but didn't look like it!).

The thing about the crisps is that you have to physically walk into a store, pick up a bag, pay money to a cashier, open the bag, etc. in order to eat them. It's a very deliberate sequence that you should be able to avoid if you're serious about this. I mean, unless you have some troll significant other who keeps them around your house despite your protests.

Neck and shoulders improving, other health much better. Going for a nice long walk, more intensive exercise in the next couple of days.

Days without crisps: 1
