Re: Old log, moobs present

Got my sick new ballin weightliftin kicks today. First workout in them, they feel amazing.

Snatch: up to 165
Clean+jerk: up to 195x1+1x2, 205x1+1

http://www.maxbarbell.com/products/c..****ifting-shoes

My old shoes were an older model by the same manufacturer. I love these things. I've worn VS Athletics and Pendlay's, but nothing compares to Wei Ruis.

My knee sleeves are pretty worn out as well and I might invest in some TKs. Or I might just go sleeveless for a while.

Excited to hit some big lifts on Wednesday. I don't know if I'll be able to break my cj pr just because I've been cjing and squatting really poorly and not push pressing at all. 200-205 snatch 240ish cj should be at least doable I think.

Wow didn't know they were that affordable. If they are that cheap I am going to get me some just for kicks.

Re: Old log, moobs present

snatch: up to 185x1, 190xfx10 7 behind 3 in front
C+J: up to 215x1+1, 225x1+fx2

Going to return to squat and bench later.

****ing horrible. I'm going to go put a gun in my mouth. Both times I cleaned 225 I stood up like I was covered in tar and there was no way I could have made a jerk. My squatting strength has gone to the toilet. I think losing a lot of upper body strength has contributed greatly as well, I just can't accurately stabilize anything overhead compared to when I was pressing a lot more and actually did the push press. I need to make some programming changes next mesocycle and make a lot more time for assistance lifts and squats and do squats first more often.

My pre-injury bests are a lot higher than current bests with the only exception being on the snatch. Depressing.

Re: Old log, moobs present

more push presses brah

i don't know what level you would classify yourself as, but pendlay broz etc have repeatedly said the press has little carry over to the jerk if you're anything other than a beginner

PP imo

I guess late beginner early intermediate-ish. I don't think those classifications are as important as guys like Rip make them out to be past a certain point.

I found it helped a little with abdominal stability backwards and forewards at the top of the jerk, and of course it carries well to push press. If I could only pick one though def pp. I need to reintroduce it and will probably even do it twice a week or more, even if it means doing only snatch or cj on most days.

Re: Old log, moobs present

agreed re: the Rip designations

I actually hate using them and think they're arbitrary and nearly useless once you have been lifting for a while, but I hate SS so what do I know

Re: Old log, moobs present

HBBS: 275x5x3 pretty easy, right around 85% I would guess.
Bench: 200x5x2, 200x7 abandoned the idea of pausing everything pretty fast.

Re: Old log, moobs present

Clean + Jerk: 95x3+3, 145x1+1, 165x1+1, 185x1+1, 195x1+1, 205x1+1, 215x1+1, 185x2+3x4
HBBS: 135x5x2, 185x3, 225x2, 250x1, 280x4+f, 275x2+f quit in disgust
Jerk BTN: 115x3x3, 135x3, 155x3, 165x3, 175x3, 185x3x3 haven't done these in a year so lots of feeler sets, felt pretty good
Clean Pull: 235x2x10 otm

Satisfied with this. I'm going to squat my ass off tomorrow whether I'm feeling strong or not, just going to do lots of 5s.

Re: Old log, moobs present

Snatch: 95x5, 115x2, 135x2, 145x2, 155x1, 165x1, 175x1, 185x1, 190x1, 195x1 holy **** I got here with no misses and only one ugly rep at 175, 200xfx5 4 behind 1 in front, 160x3, 165x3x3
HBBS: 265x5x4 ran out of time, had a client. Still feeling out of the squat groove these days.

1.5 hrs with clients

Push Press: 165x5x3 just a feeler, could have done 170 or 175.
Clean: 135x3, 155x1, 175x1, 185x1, 205x1, 215x1, 225x1 feelin pretty fast

I guess I ****ed up my taper/deload a bit, was snatching like superman today. Maybe I should have just taken a couple cracks at 200 and moved straight to cj max. W/e, I have plenty more opporunities to max cj.

I still can't shake the feeling that my skill, speed, and efficiency are developing a lot more quickly than my basic strength.

Re: Old log, moobs present

Clean+Jerk: 135x2+2, 155x1+1, 175x1+1, 185x1+1, 195x1+1, 205x1+1, 215x1+1, 225x1+1x3 first jerk was abysmal so I got mad and did it again, 2nd jerk was just okay, and 3rd was perfect., 190x3+3x3
HBBS: 135x5, 185x3, 225x2, 245x1, 275x1, 295x1, 310x1, 275x3x3
Bench: 205x5x3

Had a middle grade aching and generalized inflammation EVERYWHERE ON MY BODY today. I've been doing pullups every day for about a week, only at 7x7 currently, but I might skip it on the days before I deadlift.

Finally been able to eat a little more seriously. Bw up to 90kg. Still got a long way to go until I'm solidly in 94kg. I have no idea if I'll be able to compete in AZ again though as I'm moving to NC in August. I know the Charlotte olympic lifting scene is pretty good, but who knows if I'll actually have access to equipment. I'm sure the university gym will not have it and I won't have transportation.

Re: Old log, moobs present

What's your pullup frequency training look like? Not sure how that works. For example you state that you are at 7x7. I am guessing you trying to get 10x10?? So how do you go about that? I can do 7 pullups. So should I do 4x4 a few times a week? And then 5x5? And so on.

I am currently just doing 3 sets to failure. Twice a week. I am pretty sure that's no good though. Share the frequency pullup system.

I'm positive I already posted it in your log early on. I've never had any success with small amounts of sets to failure past the very early stages when I was first starting them. If you can do 7, you would do 4x4 every day for a week, then the next week increase to 4x5 (1 more set), then the next week 5x5 (1 more rep per set) and alternate increasing the sets and reps each week. You might have to start at 3, depends on how convincingly you can do 7. All the info you need is in this article. http://www.strengthvillain.com/?p=295

I think it will work well for your goals. You'll be pleasantly surprised with the effect it ends up having on your abs. At some point they started becoming my weak link when I got up to 9x9, my core was even more fried than lats/arms. There was a lot of visual improvement and it happened relatively quickly.

I did 10x10 weighing 190 a few months ago then had a whole bunch of forearm problems on the snatch and had to stop for several months. I'll probably progress a little bit more quickly until about 9x9 then slow it down. I've mostly ironed out my forearm problems with 45 minutes of aggressive icing and frequent homegrown graston technique torture.

Re: Old log, moobs present

HBBS: 135x5x2, 185x3x2, 225x2, 250x1, 275x1, 300x1, 325x1 felt like an absolute 1rm, 285x2, 290x2, 295x2, 300x2, 305x2
Snatch: up to 165x1, 175xfx3 1 behind 2 in front, none of the misses were even close. Decided that if I can't do 90% and I have to dl afterword anyway its probably not worth the time to do volume.
Deadlift: 365x5 friend got video of this. Will post as soon as its sent to me. I don't have a problem with lumbar extension, but I do have the problem of hips rising way too fast. W/e, if it doesn't happen on snatches or cleans I really don't give a ****. I'm really close to my previous pr of 375x5/380x4.
Pullups: bwx7x7
DB Rows: 95x10x4
Pulldownz and curlz0rs.

Re: Old log, moobs present

I don't think I ever got a definitive answer to this: how much rest between pullup sets for it to be an official 10x10?

Excellent question DW. I think avg 3.5 mins per set + the time it actually takes to do the reps. So 40 minutes.
