Alright another total **** day today. God must be punishing me for trolling Thremp's log with inane nonsense (though I AM "allowed" to post there)

220x5x2 Alright wtf is going on, ankle/outer calf is still hurting even under light loads and now the right one too. Going to try a different pair of shoes and be sure not to bounce off of calves at the bottom. I will invest in some proper weightlifting shoes I think, especially if it spares me the horrendous ankle pain I'm getting.

342.5x3 Just damn tired and joints aching everywhere. I know I'm strong enough to do this, just wasn't in the cards today.

If things don't get better on Friday I think my body is telling to to slow the **** down and I'll reset all of my lifts and deload. Going to repeat 270sq and do chins instead of cleans on Friday. The last few workouts have been frustrating.

Skipped accessories again, I know, shocking.

Alright, I was hoping it was something minor, but it's definitely achilles tendinitis from using a terrible shoe. I got used to lifting barefoot but a few weeks ago the BIIIITTTCCCHHHHH staff members at my gym decided to make a new rule where shoes must be worn. My heels were leaving the ground a bit using a ****ty running shoe and I'm pretty sure that's what put the stress on the tendon. The pains coincided perfectly for when I started squatting with shoes.

I couldn't even sleep last night because my ankles and calves hurt so damn much. It really felt like it was getting better until then, guess not. I guess I'm only going to train press/bench/chin for a few weeks. But that just feels broish and gay, I may as well not train if I'm not going to squat.

YEsterday I benched 197.5x5x3 and did some chinups and db rows. It was about as exciting as it sounds. I was only able to do 8 dead hang chins because I have gained a lot of weight since the last time I was doing chins regularly. I never realized how ridiculously easy bro workouts are until doing ss for a while. I felt like I hadn't even trained afterward.

I'm going to be moving in with my parents in 3 weeks for 3 months of summer break, which kinda sucks. But it also means I will be training at this place:http://www.phoenixweightliftingclub.com/ and getting coaching. I should be recovered by then. I want to focus more on olympic lifts but I'd still like to train my low bar squat, dl, and bench. I think that one program justin posted on 70sbig looks good, but I'll probably see what the coach has to say about programming.

Ankles are feeling a lot better. I'm going to shoot for either next monday or wednesday for my return. I've been using a baseball bat as if it were a foam roller on my outer calves which seems to be helping.

Well fuuucccckkkk. I haven't squat heavy since April 12th, this was a very long and ****-sexual layoff. I blame it entirely on the gym staff for forbidding me from lifting weights barefoot, and not on my own refusal to invest in proper footwear earlier or poor form in improper footwear. But alas:

135x3x4 ok still way harder than it should have been

I dunno how long it's going to take me to regain my strength. My squat strength typically comes back after a 3-4 sessions after a full week layoff. Deadlift strength has taken me a lot longer to get back in the past. Going to go for 10lb jumps and squat 3x/week until I'm back at 265 or so.

bw also dropped from 203 to 196. I know there's probably science junk going on with water and glycogen here, but it was just depressing to step on the scale and be an adolescent male once again.

Oh yeah, I did see a doctor last week. It was anterior tibial tendinitis, not achilles. She said it mostly affects the soft tissue around the tendon and isn't very severe, told me to continue doing self-massage, keep it elevated and ice it. Did those things, got better.

Normally I take my shoes off right before my workset and pull, then put them back on before the attendant notices. They're on to me and I had to just pull with shoes, felt awful. This was my last deadlift session at this terrible hellhole for the next 3 and a half months. Really looking forward to being able to use chalk, go barefoot, and not have to drop my dls as though a baby were sleeping in the room.

From a different thread, but I thought I would ask you in your own thread. Do you actually feel sore from deadlifting the next day or would you actually need to do the actual deadlift to know it wouldn't work if you did it every other day?

It depends. When I pulled 337.5x5 a few weeks back I knew I was going to be plenty sore the day or 2 and I was right. I would not have been able to dl the next session and usually have a slightly harder time squatting if I didn't pay attention to recovery/foam roll enough. Having deadlifted only 300x6 today, I can already tell I'm not going to be sore and could probably dl next session or even tomorrow if I pleased.

If you're planning on increasing your deadlift frequency, you probably won't be able to go for a full 5rm each time and I would guess that your squats would suffer too. I think I remember reading that Smolov Junior can be applied to DLs if you don't squat while doing it.

Sort of lackadaisical day overall, don't really feel as though I accomplished much. I'll be getting oly coaching starting next week some time and school is now over for the year.
