Ya, really have to stick with the proper diet I'm on to now. Also really want to build muscle definition/six pack etc but can't until I hit the weight goals.

Good job Adam!

Everything has already been said, but to reiterate a couple of important points.

Your calorie burn will drop with your weight, as you weigh less it requires fewer calories to move your body. You need to account for that to know if you are on track. If your weight loss slows weight and track everything.

Vary your cardio to avoid stress injuries.

Something that has helped me is a sous vide machine. Chicken breasts are so much more palatable. I prepare about 30 meals at a time using different seasoning and freeze. Just throw it in the machine before gym. When I get home, sear the outside in a hot pan and eat with a salad.

3 liters of water a day isnt enough if you are doing much at the gym.

Update:

Starting weight:227
Current weight:185.4
Goal weight:150

Food yesterday:

2 cups blueberries
Chicken breast on salad
Pan-fried sole fillet, white wine sauce
1 cup steamed broccoli
1 corn on cob

Gym: 1 hour treadmill walking 3.5/mph at 3% grade

Seem to have hit a plateau at 186 but cut through that number this morning, thankfully. 29 days to get to 180 to win that milestone bet. A bit worried about that after the 6 day plateau at 186.

Resolve to really work my ass off for the next four weeks. Double up on gym trips for a week to see if that's effective. Question: Is it ok to do core stuff like planks as well as some light weight training or is that counter-productive?

Core stuff and light weight training is fine as long as you don't push too hard.

If you're truly at a plateau, worrying about being more exact tracking your caloric intake is >>>> more important than worrying about increasing cardio to what would likely be unsustainable levels.

You can optimize the treadmill a little bit. What about 3 mph but 10deg incline? Compare calories. This is not important but to me low inclines on the treadmill are wtf. Flat running exercise very inefficient.

I personally like 3mph 15deg incline. That caloric expenditure is surprising.

Pass on the core stuff. You can look into swings on YouTube. Maybe Pavel + swings. There is a study out there, swings = 20 + cals per minute.

That's how I would do this. Calories from 70% diet/ 30 % efficient exercise. Running on treadmill not efficient but super incline walking okay.

Got to the gym and realized I'd forgot my runners for the SECOND time this week. Supertilt. Went to bulk candy aisle, spent $30 and went to a movie.

Only ate 6 chocolate covered jujubes before feeling sick so it wasn't too bad.

Choc covered jujubees 4-6 must have involved some self-loathing. Or at least they should have!

What would that equate to in American dollars? Seems like a lot of candy you...didn't eat? What the hell's going on here? Was there no Tim Horton's or ice cream aisle nearby?

Didn't have time, gym was closing in about 90 mins and it would have been 30 min round trip to go back

At least around here, you'd be pretty likely to be able to borrow a pair of sneakers at the gym. Still, it sucks not to have the gear you thought you had.

Adam, srsbzness. You are a lock to take MJ's money. You're teeing off on the 18th hole and you need to score 12 or under on a pretty easy par 4. You can miss a workout. You can cheat one day. Whatever, you're in. This whole thing is an area under the curve exercise. You have your life and diet clean and good, so in the long run you'll do fine. Totally respect that you came out and admitted to having a candy binge (a tiny one) on a frustrating day, but it doesn't matter in the scheme of losing weight in the next 6-8 months. Your habits seem great. Keep at those and it will all work out. If you need TChan to help you get under 180 in a week or two, you're in. He could have you weigh in tomorrow and it wouldn't be that bad cutting from 186.

You've got this. Keep on doing what you're doing.

You probably know this, but, to add some variety, maybe try hit golf balls, for a hr.

Calories Burnt .. 1 hr on the range = 240

Calories Burnt .. 1hr on a treadmill, for 185lb person .. 350-450, depending on speed. (3.5 miles/hr-4.5miles/hr).

So much is just compliance. So you don't go watch a movie and binge eat candy when something minor fails you.

He is just a man. I think the random revolts are normal and somewhat refreshing as long as they remain scarce. Also seems like they will be easier to avoid when you realize you will feel sick from eating that stuff after being dedicated the rest of the time.

I have never eaten Choc covered jujubees. I'm not 100% sure we have them in Australia. They do sound a little disturbing but then haggis didn't sound great but ended up tasting really good, so what do I know?

We're all human, people make mistakes. It's hard eradicating everything from your diet hardcore but you are so close to winning this bet it would be such a bummer if you didn't! Keep at it Adam

Thanks Doug! Ya, I got this. The 150 is a different animal, but I'm going to give that a srs run.

Excellent point. Have to work in the range as Golf Tour is a mere 2.5 weeks away.

Ya, I guess some won't admit to giving in occasionally. I have, many times, and not afraid to admit it because I'm still getting to where I want to go.

Thanks Rexx! FTR, milk chocolate covered jujubes are the nuts.

Ok, update:

Starting weight:227
Current weight:183.0
Goal weight:150

Been to the gym every day. One hour walking at 3.5mph and a 3.0 incline. Then a circuit of planks, squats with a weight, reverse sit ups and pushups. Three circuits of each. Feeling great.

Food has been really good lately. Lots of salad in the fridge and berries for breakfast. Bought a few cartons of egg whites for Denver-style omelettes. Also have been doing post-workout shakes with protein powder. Fish oil every morning and a multi three times a day.

Treat tonight though, gonna make cast iron wings at home for me and the boy.

Will only have 6 or so, but YUM!

Adam,

Just bumping this out of curiosity as to how you are going. Did you make the 180 for the bet in July? Do you think you are on track for the overall bet? I hope you are making good progress
