hey cool we're talking about cars. I was just looking at cars on the internet.

currently drive a BMW 135i and it's fun as **** but the mpg sucks and I literally can't take it out in the snow, which is a problem a few times a year for me here in Maryland. need something with AWD and better than 20mpg.

my two frontrunners for next car are Subaru Impreza (probably WRX and maybe STI but not sure, mileage is much worse on those but I like driving fast) and Audi A4. anyone ever own either of these? review?

You want better MPG and you're checking out a WRX?

Suggestion: Put snow tires with the smallest steelies you can get over the brakes on your 1 and see how it is after that.

Prediction: It's going to be amazing in the snow.

My workout partner has a 2007 WRX that he bought new - he says its the best car he's ever owned in every way.

A friend of mine used to have one and he loved it. He owns a different Subaru now.

yeah, I was shocked at how much worse the mileage is than the plain Impreza. it's like 32mpg for Impreza vs. 23mpg for WRX.

my order of priorities is
1. AWD
2a. quality/funness of drive
2b. mileage

the ****ty mileage won't break me financially, but I still feel really wasteful driving my current car. if I test drive a regular Impreza and it's not as boring as my old civic was, I'll probably just go with that and get all the upgrades since it's so cheap.

yeah it really sucks talking about cars in a weightlifting forum when we could be talking about dressing up like *** wizards and talking about dragons and books and harry potter vs the hobbit and which elder scroll level 100 nerd is coolest.

Nuggetz, a set of snow tires including steelies and mounting will cost you like $600, for the love of god at least try it before upgrading to an AWD car and surely running all seasons through the winter.

Also, if quality is important to you going from a BMW to a Subaru is like going from an Oly gym to a Planet Fitness in Ohio.

I don't know anything about cars and will personally highly value reliability when I eventually get one of my own. However, I like listening to car talk because I think they're incredible machines and enjoy learning more about them. Even in the worst of conversations, hearing different opinions on matters is informative to me.

That said, big fan of them wizards.

Perhaps the Ford Anglia will bridge the two worlds and create the perfect LC conversation.

So true. A couple years ago when my car totally pooped the bed I went and test drove a bunch of cars. I tried a Corolla, Civic, Prius, Altima, and essentially they were all the same car. Then my Dad was like go and try a VW, and I didn't really want to because I had always considered them chick cars, but I did, and the Jetta totally blew all those other cars in the same class away. So I'm going to drive this one into the ground, and then throw it in the gutter, and go buy another. Though I won't ever buy a new car again, because that's like the dumbest thing you can ever do.

Wait, 20mpg average in a 135i? Get it looked at good sir. My stepdad has a 335i 'vert with the N54(twin turbo, less efficient) and they average 24mpg. Bigger, way heavier car with significantly worse drag with the roof down.

Another option if you want to keep with the BMW line would be something like a 328i xdrive. The AWD is part-time meaning it engages when it needs to. A purist will tell you it isn't as good, but imo it's better. Drives like a RWD unless it needs to drive the front wheels(happens near instantaneously) and you don't take the MPG hit.

Iirc the 135 is one of the better MPG/fun combo cars because it uses a smaller displacement twin turbod engine, I think you'll be disappointed with other options. Keep in mind awd adds a few hundred more pounds, aka worse yet MPG.
