I understood, but here it's illegal to carry a gun if you're not a cop (with very few exceptions - ex-cop not being one of them ).

ok, I'm no expert but:

- all hand guns (don't know if that's the right term. pistols. secondary weapon in counter strike) are illegal with a few exceptions (cops, sports...maaaaybe some private security)

- all semi and fully automatic guns are illegal. includes things like pump-action shotguns. although i'm fairly sure bolt action style rifles capable of holding a magazine are ok (because my dad has one)

- everything that doesn't fall into those categories you need a fairly strictly controlled license. including things like a safe place to store it. and usually a fairly good reason (i.e. "I live in bumf*ck nowhere and I need to shoot my livestock (or kangaroos) when they break a leg")

I haven't actually read this, but I think what I wrote above is a fairly accurate summary.

ftr, our gun laws got super tight after this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_Ar...cre_(Australia)

Since then there have been no mass shootings. Take note other countries who may not have such strict gun laws (too soon?).

I'm getting $6,100 from my car insurance for my car. I had it over 9 years and paid $16,000 for it.

Not sure if that's good, great, or bad. But - their valuation seems legit as far as I can tell so it is what it is.

Funnily enough my mum sent me a pic just this morning. 'tis the season.

Spoiler:

It's one of these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_brown_snake

Super common down the east coast of Australia. Not the most deadly in terms of toxicity, but probably the most dangerous due to their tendency to set up shop close to people (they love sheds or like piles of wood and stuff) and being very aggressive.

That's the 2nd one she's killed in the last couple of months.

He basically knew going in that everyone was underpaid and could be shown the door at any time since there's a steady supply of young Jeffs more than willing to take his place at below-market pay. Otherwise, he didn't think much of the operation.
That's actually at market pay, it's just that those Apple employees are willing to accept a negative compensating wage differential for the 'coolness' of getting to work at apple.

Homer: Thank you, dear.
Lisa: By your logic I could claim that this rock keeps tigers away.
Homer: Oh, how does it work?
Lisa: It doesn’t work.
Homer: Uh-huh.
Lisa: It’s just a stupid rock.
Homer: Uh-huh.
Lisa: But I don’t see any tigers around, do you?
[Homer thinks of this, then pulls out some money]
Homer: Lisa, I want to buy your rock.

I've only lived through two winters anywhere with heavy snowfall. One winter I drove an Alfa Romeo Spider, the other a Mercedes SLK. Didn't get in a wreck either winter.

So I suggest a rear wheel drive European convertible.
