It may be a cool thing to bring up a couple weeks later when she's mad about you to let her in on the secret that you were thinking about it and then she can mention things for you to get her next bday if you're still going out.

It's a great litmus test though imo. If your date is getting overly needy/wanting of presents right away that for sure tells you something imo. It either tells you she's perfect b/c you can buy your way to steady sex, or it tells you that you'= should look for someone more interested in the actual relationship.
The first part I can't argue with, it's kind of a personal choice situation. The latter part, though, I completely agree with, very accurate.

And on the ongoing sweets/salty discussion...am I the only one who has lost my taste for excessive amounts of junk food after all the time and work on trying to get in shape? I love chocolate, but if I crave it, 1/4 of a Hershey's bar is more than enough to satisfy my craving, in part cause my brain is going "DO YOU REALIZE HOW MUCH TREADMILL TIME IS IN THIS EFFING THING?!" at me, so I have a hard time really enjoying it.

Kind of. I mean, eating $10 worth of taco bell in one sitting seems like too much to me now...but eating $7 still has a decent amount of appeal. I'm not sure I'll ever just stop wanting stuff like that.

Any time we have a bag of chips left over from anything I always end up pounding it within 2-3 days even while practicing supreme willpower and discipline. My g/f makes fun of me for it but I generally say "well, if I eat this now I can't cheat later by eating it." The flawless logic is good enough for me, I don't care if it misses the point entirely .

Guilty. I did just eat a small package of corn nuts, tho. 220calories just to get a little something in my stomach before lifting/yard work/basketball.

Also:

GF: would would you like for dinner?
Me: How about steak and veggies?
GF: Ok sounds good what kinda veggies?
Me: You pick
GF: Ok. How about... Corn on the cob and a baked potato?

I find that I've lost my taste for it a bit, but only a little bit. Once every two months or so I'll have an epic 2000cal McDonald's meal, or during football season (CFL, duh) I'll have an entire bag of chips with some beer or something.

I do have a lot more discipline than I used to with regard to that sort of thing, though. I do get ridiculous cravings for snacks and meals like that, but I can usually battle through it by putting some salt on a cucumber or something.

It's not easy, but it gets the job done.

never, I have fatty genetics working against me and I'm always craving sweets, junk, fatty meat, etc...

Can't imagine ever not wanting to go to town on a bunch of food

I find it helpful to make food/protein shakes beforehand, smoke, and then eat.

Not once. Not even close. You're doing it wrong.

A couple of things, my dad grew up a farmer and now he is 50 and a heavyweight. The guy I do seminars with and I were talking about that moment when you realize you are stronger than your dad and I said I don't think I'll ever, ever be stronger than my dad. Press more, squat more, pull more, sure. But definitely never actually be "stronger"...whatever that means.

Next thing, we just did a seminar in Bozeman, MT and someone mentioned the Boiling River and suggested we check it out. So we make this trip to Yellowstone (lots of cool sights, but still too early to hike) and we find this river where it's freezing ****ing cold. Then you get to a part where the boiling river runs into it and it's like a nonstop contrast tub which is bizarre because the front of you is freezing and the back is on fire and you know you should move to fix that but nothing you do changes it.

Anyway, we both have knee problems (I have a torn meniscus and cartilage and patellar femural tracking) and we got out and felt ****ing amazing.

Is this some sort of placebo sort of ****? To be fair, I never heard about those types of holistic hippie fixes, at least that one specifically, until I got home and looked it up. I'm just curious whether that could actually be something good for you in the long term.

Hmm. Maybe my grip needs to widen. My back is pretty much parallel to to ground and I have to really focus to bring the bar high enough that it doesn't clip my knee. Guessing widening the grip will flare my elbows out more too and bring the bar higher.

I've been doing pend-rows for a while now and have not once hit my knee

gonna try new syntha 6 flavor, vanilla or cookies and cream?
04-23-2012 , 10:23 PM
seems like a matter of flexibility since your knees are so far out

what is a good (tasting and priced) whey protein sup I can buy and where is the best place to order for fast shipment?
i'm almost out of this nitro-tech i have.
04-23-2012 , 11:08 PM
I like the syntrax matrix 5.0 stuff from amazon, relatively cheap, tastes good to me, and its a protein blend so I find it keeps me feeling full longer.

If you have a .edu email address you can get a free year of prime, so it ships free on two day shipping.

Oh yeah, I hear you, once in a while you cut loose. The general discipline is really the important part. I mean...well, I'll let Boromir say it: (been a long time favorite of mine)
