Greatest Meal Ever.

I'm starting a bulk right....... Now.

ive never gotten a flu shot. i may have had a flu in middleschool, maybe it was mono, i just remember being basically unconscious unless i was puking my brains out or blowing it out of my ass and generally in agony for like a week or two.

if the bad flu is anything like that I'd probably get the shot - but then again even if that was the flu I haven't had one in like 12 years.

is there any downside to getting a flu shot?

Almost all people who get influenza vaccine have no serious problems from it.

I like those odds.

This looks amazing, though I am sad panda that used a ribeye. Ribeye is for steaks/ roasts, there's lots of other cuts that I'd prefer in a sandwich.

What would you like to see used?
04-19-2012 , 09:08 AM
Wow that does look good even tho I just skimmed it on my little screen. I'll take in the full sized food pr0nz on my big screen.

Speaking of eating...

My buddy goes on a fast food run here at work a few hours ago. I got a ton of calories left for the day so I tell him to just grab me a burger. He comes back with food for everyone but had an extra sandwich (bigger than the burger I ordered).

No one wanted it (wtf) so I said I'd eat it if he couldn't give it away. He looked at me like 'uhhhh eat 2 sandwiches? Yeah right'

So in less than 5 minutes I had both finished and everyone stared at me in desbelief.

It ended up only being like 1400 calories but if I'm not dieting, smashing that wouldn't be really any different than any other day.

I guess it's just weird that everyone was so surprised at a feat of eating strength that's relatively commonplace for me.

I always pass on the flu vaccination, never noticed any difference between years when I got it, and years I didn't. I thought that the flu mutates so much that the vaccine usually is behind the curve and not really that effective anyway. I could be making that up though.

Yeah I think I got it once when I was little but never again. I caught the swine flu which was the worst thing ever but I survived.

I think that the flu shot is actually supposed to be a prediction of what the bad flu strain will going around and sometimes they get it closer than other times. But I might actually be making that up.

Shrug

Had my first flu vaccine in October of last year. About 12 hours later, I had alternating hot/freezing spells and was completely disoriented.

I vaguely recollect running face first into a wall and causing a picture on the wall to come crashing down on what my wife tells me was @ 10 of 20 trips to the bathroom. By morning, I was AOK.

Didn't catch the flu tho.

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Influenza_vaccine, you should expect around a 65-75% success rate from taking the vaccine as a healthy adult male. Given that side effects are fairly rare, it might be worth it - but only 5-15% get influenza on average each year (http://www.globalsecurity.org/securi...mic-deaths.htm). So assuming a 10% chance on average, taking the shot you're left with a 2.5-3.33% chance of contracting the flu instead.

Probably not a big deal either way since the impact of taking/not taking the shot is so low. This obv doesn't apply to special populations. Such as myself, I might have to go to the hospital if I get the actual flu due to my asthma.

Well I just skimmed the Wiki about flu shots. I guess the flu doesn't mutate as much as I thought, and they just shoot you up with 3 vaccines at once (maybe 4 now).

It's pretty good for kids it seems, you can save a lotta money on hospital bills, adults are more likely just to miss a few days of work.

I think it said the average person that gets the flu shot saves ~48 bucks/ year

Lol I hope I didn't butcher all that too much

Decent odds.

Certainly understandable in your situation, or for those populations (ie: my kids get it every year).

Btw, getting a flu shot is worth it just so that when my mom calls and asks "have you gotten your flu shot?" I can put a stop to that for the rest of the year. Easy game if you play it the right way imo.

"Yup." Seems to work to halt further questions whether you did or didn't receive a flu shot.

White lies to your parents = completely standard.
04-19-2012 , 10:23 AM
Why lie when I can reduce my chance at flu by ~4%!!!
04-19-2012 , 10:24 AM
I've never gotten a flu shot, and coincidentally I've never had the flu.

Only once have I ever been sick in the sense that I had absolutely no energy and could not get out of bed. I was away from school (high school) at the time and missed about a week. Luckily for me, I thought I was a cool kid and skipped a lot of classes so no one was really the wiser.

Still graduated valedictorian!

So, I had what was probably the most delicious ribeye steak last night, but it was also the most fatty. Is this a coincidence?
04-19-2012 , 11:16 AM
Not a coincidence.

You mean marbling or the outside bark? Either way, still not a coincidence.

Ya lol
