Re: *** Official Bropril Cutting/LC thread ***

Rare post. My Wilks is 296.436. No wonder Wilks hates coaching me.

This weekend was the Australian raw Nationals and Pacific Invitationals. There was some pretty ridiculous lifting across the three nights. I know there are a couple of Aussies in here that might be half interested so...

Top 5 Highlights
- Blaine Sumner squatting 400kgs raw, less than a month after squatting 442.5kg in gear. The fact that he made depth by about about 4 inches made it more impressive. Totaled 932.5.
- David Jame squatting an Aus record of 270.5 at 104.68kgs. It was an outrageous grind that lasted about 9 minutes.
- Wim Van Weenam competing in M5 (80+), totaling a tick under 500. Holy strong old bastard.
- Richard Hozjan who totaled 762.5 lifting in the 105s (but only weighing 100).
- One of our Melbourne Uni lifters, Peks (Lapeka Nanai) totaling 800 in the 120+s... which is pretty bloody impressive for a blind lifter. Inspiring enough to forgive him for walking into my bars mid-set at least once a fortnight.

I found Bigfoot. Skip to 0:51 for the rare sighting.

302.x wilks. Bench and DL both based on 1rm calcs, squat is an actual 1rm value but hbbs with a thin nylon belt.

As far as shoes, I think price will influence durability more than comfort/quality. I've used a lot of different shoes. Do wins, vs athletics, and romaleos. I own a pair of $42 Wei Rui's and I pretty much always go back to them and prefer them over anything else. Google Max-Barbell llc if you're interested.

I reaaaaallllyy hated the pendlay do wins, they have like a 2nd protrusion in the middle of the foot I found extremely distracting. The others I've used felt okay/pretty good.

As far as belts, I think everyone goes with the 10mm inzer. It's like 50$ or so shipped. I use a nylon/velcro harbinger belt. You can get them at any big 5 for 20 instead of having to order on the internet and they're less supportive but less obstructive than heavier leather/pling belts. It's really easy to clean with it on, not so easy to clean with a heavier leather belt.

Shoes are more important. Belt will add lbs to your lift acutely, but shoes will actually get you performing the movement pattern correctly and enhance the amount of ROM you can go through without losing tightness even if you have theoretically perfect flexibility

John Grimek, Joseph C. Hise, William Boone, Bob Peoples, Paul Anderson, Doug Hepburn, John Davis, Peary Rader.

If you wiki some of these names, they had some impressive lifts way back when.

Some of training methods we could probably benefit from. Remember that these guys trained before the advent of drugs, supplements, and assistive gear. They didn't need any of that ****.

These dinosaurs should be our models of strength training imo.

The Tight Tan Slacks of Dezso Ban blog has more archived information on these guys and their training philosophies than you will ever want. Here's one on Bob Peoples

The Chaos and Pain blog also has a series of articles on (mostly) old school strongmen under the title "Baddest Mother****ers ever." This is on Doug Hepburn

Brooks Kubik is the foremost authority on Dinosaur Training. His books are good reading.

And you're right in that we can learn a lot from these guys who got big and strong with no access to performance enhancing drugs, even if most of them were genetic anomalies.

wlshoes.com has reviews on shoes in all price ranges.

I have the Risto Sports White Thunder and love them. Certainly not the cheapest ones out there though. Note that their sizing is unique and you'll need to measure your foot if you go this route.

WL review seems to say it's aimed specifically at me.

I’d say these are best suited for beginner to intermediate power lifters or those that are just performing squats, presses, dead lifts and bench.
I'm pretty much a beginner lifter using Chucks ATM (my squat will probably still be <300lbs at the end of the month) and am looking for a decent first pair of lifting shoes for a good price.
These seem to fit the bill; decent review, great price, and they look kinda cool too.

I'm just gonna go ahead and buy these now.

Re: *** Official Bropril Cutting/LC thread ***

purchased. even paid the extra $15 for 2day shipping because I'm a fish and I hate waiting.

praying that size 9 isn't too small since I have to go between 9 and 9.5 a lot with different shoes.

I just used 675/415/675 @ 295 (which is why I said my total may be higher on a good day) and that comes out to:

This Wilks Value of 450.578 is for a Man with a body weight of 133.8 kgs and a lift amount of 1765 Pounds.

I left a chicken breast out overnight for ~8 hours. Still good to eat? Relevant info:

Thermostat set to 65 degrees.
Humidity is at 30%
Wind is SSW @ 11 miles per hour and the visibility is ~50 yards (it's dark out)
