Sometimes I look at the instagram with location of my fancy gym tagged (expert way to stalk imo) and the number of photos taken in the ****ing men's locker room is pretty disturbing.

Definitely a fancy gym if they have a separate locker room for those activities. And definitely disturbing that people are posting pictures of it.

Has anyone trained at Equinox?

Wow, that's major fancy gym. So many hot girls. It's like a little island of pure health and fitness. Everyone fit almost no one roided up and it's almost like they banned fatties or solved obesity. This is texas too, just wow.

1. Sit on the damn floor now that there's so much room for activities
2. Have a beer
3. Have a whiskey, go back to step 1 as needed.
4. ???
5. Profit

Like 15 years ago. Harks back to Skel's obsession post, as my Equinox was known for dudes banging each other in the locker room. Sounds cool if you are into that. (I showered at home like it was my first day in prison lol.)

My gym is the same. Fit moms, rich college-age girls with no jobs who just train for getting a local rich. Mbn. Not really. K.

I really thought I was god's gift to health and fitness. But at equinox i look like everybody else. It was awesome. I died and went with my peoples.

Except it's an hour from my house and it's over $200 a month. And there is nothing new for me to learn. Idiot trainer thinks I got gains left on me at 39 and with a bad back. Nah man it's all maintenance and rock climbing now.

Pass

So I've got a bit of a dilemma. I've actually been essentially injury free for the last six months, which is the best stretch i've had in a couple of years.

Yesterday was a cardio day and I ran about 8K. Pretty comfortable pace, no probs. Fast forward to 4AM and I get this pain in my groin like someone is stabbing a knife into it. Can't sleep. Can barely walk. Putting on pants is excruciating. Eventually, I get in my car and drive to work (20 min) and when I get out the pain is almost gone. Within a few hours it's like it almost never happened.

I did have a pretty severe groin strain (same side, felt similar) a few years ago, but the difference is that I knew exactly when it happened (during a squat PR fwiw). I'll re-aggravate it about once a year when playing soccer or something, but it never really hurts very much and I always know exactly what I did to cause the problem. This time it just came and went out of the blue.

So, I'm supposed to squat tomorrow (I only squat once a week). What do I do:
1. Skip it
2. Squat, but keep it light. Quit if it doesn't feel right.
3. YOLO it up and just stick with my program

I'm a giant pussy so I'm probably doing 1 or 2, unless anyone has a great argument for 3.

Would 'YOLO' qualify as great?

In and of itself, it's not enough for great.

I'd warm up, mobilise as normal then get under the bar, stopping at any stage when I felt any discomfort

I would most definitely do a lot of stretching I'm talking like a yoga session or some hardcore rolling for bit if u can get in there. Id prob kip that first session back.

I had a groin injury that put me oos for a year. Not worth the risk of reaggrivating.

Sounds similar to one of the inguinal hernias I got. Played soccer and the next day had similar pain to what you described. Went to the Dr and he shoved a finger up there to push the intestines back where they belonged and the pain went away. Still needed surgery to fully fix it, but at least the pain went away. Figure I got it lifting the day before soccer but no pain until 2 days later.

I recommend not lifting and see if the pain comes back, if it does go see a Dr.

So, I did a few air squats, and I felt a little bit of pain still, so I stopped. The next two weeks were going to be busy for me with travel so squatting would have required some planning and a real effort to make the time. Probably will just take that time off and bro out for 2 wks with some air squats and stretching. It's ****ing annoying because I was actually making some nice steady progress on my squat even at just once a week.

I doubt it's an inguinal hernia. I have seen my sports medicine doc about it in the past and he ruled that out. The pain is pretty much the same, it's just that this time there is no precipitating factor. I guess if something changes I'll go get it checked out again. I think I've really just got a case of the olds.

The olds are brutal. Make all the gainz you can before they catch you.

is it groin more front or groin more on the 'inside'?

Could be an adductor strain?

Yeah, I think that's what it is. Normally when I say groin injury I mean adductor strain, but I guess there are other groin injuries as well, so it's not a perfect substitution.
