I'm not so worried. Wling staying in (or wrestling leaving) the Olympics is all about money. I think on the world scale weightlifting is pretty popular and results in decent money but idk for sure.

Weightlifting is by far the most popular strength sport. PLing has been and will always remain a fragmented fringe strength sport.

Strongman and highland games are cool to watch tho.

Wrestling was way more popular than WLing. But it'll be curious to see what happens if it gets removed. It might still survive as more than a fragmented fringe. Crossfit lol.

Poor Chinese athletes if that happens lol. Or would worlds/asia/national comps be important enough for them to keep being the best in the world at it?

Also just saw this article

http://www.weightliftingmindset.com/...ght-advantage/

"The bodyweight advantage in Weightlifting competitions could soon be gone. Stated simply, with bodyweight out as the primary way to break a tie, it comes down to who makes a Total first. Another way to look at it, if you snatch more than me, you’ll win if we tie in the Total."

That's....interesting.

It puts strategy into play. Much like what Haack did to Gibbs at Worlds.

He lifted first and purposefully went for a slightly larger number forcing Gibbs to go even higher to win.

I probably won't even watch the weightlifting. I'll watch stuff like the tennis and golf, you know, the ones that matter.
