Back lifting; predictably a bit fatter and a lot weaker. Hip feeling better, no more AIDS, and I'm going to be around home for the next month or so. Going to just log some general stuff every week or so and try to get up to something semi-reasonable over the next four weeks and have the rust shaken off by New Year's. Maybe get back into rowing after that. We'll see.

Glad you aren't dead (yet). I have the same, semi-reasonable goals. Race to sub-mediocrity?

Don't set your sights too big. You're making the other olds and dads look bad.

Sub-mediocrity would be quite the step up.

Lifted again today:

5x5 Light squat/6x6 Wide pull-ups (unweighted)
Leg Press/Narrow Lat Pulldown
Leg Ext/Leg Curl
Hypers

All fine, no pain. Weighed in at 197 last night; getting dangerously close to the DT zone.

Rowed 2k meters at around a 2:02 pace and then walked 2 miles in half an hour. Feeling a little sore from the last two days of lifting, but not too bad; still fat, so I'm learning that two days of CLEAN EATING can't reverse a few months of not caring about calories and heavy drinking.

Was going to wait to log until 2017 and the numbers get less sad, but you guys know I'm old and weak so w/e. Loss of strength obv a problem everywhere, and endurance as well towards the end of the workout, but felt good regardless. Keeping the weights low, especially on lower body, because being hurt half of last year sucked. Not as sore as I'd worried I'd be from the first few days, and SI still feels fine, so on that front.

Tomorrow will just be a bunch of light DL and front squat sets and some random lower body bro ****. Saturday rowing plus treadmill. Keeping the diet tightish at 1800-2000/day, with slightly less protein (~180-200) and a few more carbs, just because. Feels alright so far.

One more rep this week at 3s than last week at 5s, so pretty successful. Had to do incline bench on the more upright incline barbell bench because both adjustable ones were taken (I generally use a much milder incline with that one). Should be back up to real weight within the next few months, but no hurry. Tried to stay a bit more upright on my dips to make sure I'm not letting my chest take over too much, which I think I tend to do when the weight gets heavy (not that it's heavy now). Everything else sufficiently bro-y.

Decent diet over the weekend, so that was a nice surprise. Made a nice red bell pepper, onion, zucchini, and basil frittata and some heavy cream biscuits for brunch on Sunday morning with my wife's old college friend and her family. Nice to be home enough to do some cooking again.

Oh, and RJ and I have a weight loss bet covering now through June 1st; each of us are trying to lose 15 pounds (me down to 180) and RJ down to 125. I've always stalled out around 184 or so in the past so this should be good motivation for me to grind on through.

Well the idea is that we're both going to make it and neither is going to end up paying anything, but I can try to get down to 175 and enhance my chances of divorce if that would float your boat.

Regardless, to anticipate your next question, there will be nudes if/when I make this a reality.

12/13: 191.6

A
Squat: 5x5x145
Pullups: 6x7xbw

B
Leg Press: 5x12x180
Parallel Grip Lat Pulldown: 6x15x82.5

C
Leg Ext: 4x15
Leg Curl: 4x12

D
Hypers: 4x12xbw
Calf Raise on Leg Press: 4x15x180

Easy does it still, no issues with the SI. Plan is to ramp up the 5x5 squats by 10 lbs/session until I hit 185, then 5 lbs per session until I hit 225, then guesstimate a working 1RM and move to 5/3/1 with 4x10 backoff sets.

Diet still coming along nicely; might start upping the calories a bit after things normalize after this week and I get all the beer bloat out of me.

Went out for fried chicken with my brother in law last night to celebrate the college graduation and had a few beers and a shot. Back on the diet train today, no real damage done I'm sure.

Lifting felt good. 10 reps on incline felt solid. Good times.

Damn Goldfish. Time to tighten the weekly caloric cilice. Plus I didn't sleep well (i.e. stayed up too late) last night and felt bad this morning. Olds.

Felt pretty bad about only getting eight reps at 120 until I realized I got only got nine reps at 115 last week instead of the ten I thought. Everything else was light/easy/smooth; continuing to ramp up slowly in weight on most other things. Staying more upright on dips makes it harder than the extreme forward lean I was doing when the weight was heavy, but I feel it more in the guns so that's probably better-ish.

Added lying DB skullcrushers to the end of the workout because why not, and actually liked how they felt a fair bit more than with the EZ bar. Probably because I'm a special snowflake.

The bar locks your wrists and elbows and doesn't allow a more natural shift that can occur. You probably don't even feel it but video would show it.

nucular,

Yeah, I figured it was something like that, just being glib and all as I am wont to do.

As an aside, here's my pseudo-annual picture of the minis, in case anyone is interested or cares (taken this afternoon):
