Mon-wed meals prepped, no excuses to eat out.

M,

I thought you were moving this weekend. Is that next weekend?
05-21-2017 , 10:51 PM
Yeah, next weekend. Code3 and I are both off on labor day, so we will pack on Saturday, move on Sunday, and paint/clean on Monday.

At least you'll finally have an excuse to eat poorly, then, MLYLT.

New England school marm here to recommend you be careful with sprinting until you get used to running again. Sprinting is a fairly easy injury early on. In order of marmiest recommendations:

1) Wait until you've been running 2-3x per week for 3 months to do any sprinting.
2) Sprint exclusively uphill.
3) Sprint only 20 yards so you can stay bent over with your head down.
4) Spend 10 minutes on your warmup including the various kick and highstep drills and running sideways/backwards crap plus some ~80% effort sprints.

And for the love of god, no scissors!

I mean, I get it; sprinting is awesome. Injury sucks, though. You can get a similar buzz by sprinting as part of your swim.

I guess it's one word;

Definition of schoolmarm
1: a woman who is a schoolteacher especially in a rural or small-town school
2: a person who exhibits characteristics attributed to schoolteachers (such as strict adherence to arbitrary rules)

I could see her easily making a great breakfast scramble she'd love with real maple drizzled over the top.

You could skip the carbs there too M. Eggs, ham, whatever other vegetables you'd like (i'd do mushrooms, peppers, and onions) with a bit of cheddar cheese sprinkled over the top.

You can eat foods you still like/love and minimize calories, you know this. Have a piece of toast with it, moderation.
Ugh.

I wanted to bring up this point, but didn't. The alternative is to train with Borge Fagerli who insists his patented hands on coaching has eliminated all injury risk during sprints.

The current findings indicate that sugary foods contribute minimally to 'food dependence' and increased risk of weight gain. Instead, they are consistent with the current scientific notion that food energy density, and the unique individual experience of eating, plays an important role in determining the reward value of food and promoting excessive energy intake.
Just buy low sugar jelly or diet jelly or something. You don't have to quit jelly. Just don't make it a food group.

Go crazy on it. The stuff is the nutritional equivalent of sugar free jello.

M I think you are doing good with weight loss. Especially taking into account all other disturbances in your life. I think you are doing GREAT by running or as a matter of fact any exercise. I know that looking good is important for you, and you posted somewhere vids of your swimming and running and playing basketball. You look good and athletic in basically all of them, it is visible that you have muscles and it is just cool, you look like fun and like someone with whom others would want to run and play basketball.

I sort of get 1, 2, and 4. But what the heck is the point of 3? Bent over? Head down? I don't think she's coming out of the blocks on her little runs. Serious question.

Agree about the scissors.

Prevent overstriding. Its the same as only uphill. Shorter steps.

Also less likely to get injured when not super tired!

Really running uphill is recommended largely for the same reasons but maybe it's flat where she's running.

Basically if the weight is a bit out in front of you, then it's not smashing down onto your leg with the same level of impact. A rusty adult running as hard as they can is able to bring a truly shocking amount of force down upon their knee and when they land on a fully extended (oops) leg out in front of them after they get just a little fatigued--well the human body is kind of a miracle for not *always* breaking right then and there. Sprinting is a heavy CNS skill and keeping it short for a while gives your body a chance to better prepare for longer runs. Also helps build the habit of staying bent over throughout the acceleration phase and will mean she's targeting her quads on each run. That will result in better skill transfer for something like basketball.

Edit: slow pony--what M05 said

OK, if the point is that bad form can cause injuries and out of shape adult fatties are more likely to push the bad form to the point of injury so they should keep it short, I agree. I guess my experience doesn't include anything where "bent over" and "head down" for 20 yards was anywhere near being a viable suggestion for running. In fact I would think that short full out bursts are more likely to cause injury than a 100 in 18 seconds.

So I grabbed the wrong container and ended up just having 8oz of chicken for lunch. I'm at 655cals for the day!
