I was troubleshooting this pressure tester again. I emailed her boss to let him know what was up. He suggested that I change the flow meters out (which I did not think was the problem at all). I responded to him that changing the flowmeters was basically the most difficult thing to do, most likely wasn't the problem, and that i wanted to try some other things out first.
My boss came straight to my office and said "you not wanting to do that isn't going to fly" , so I started to explain to her that I thought the pressure regulator and valves were the problem and I didn't want to take apart two separate machines and trade out parts for something g I didn't feel was the problem until I looked at the regulator. She litterally said to me, "shut up and let me talk" and repeated that I couldn't not change the meters because I didn't want to. Well I went and adjusted the mother****ing pressure regulator and fixed the problem.

She knows absolutely nothing about machines or any type of equipment and automatically assumed I didn't want to do something because I didn't feel like it or something instead of assuming I was trying a logical approach to fix the problem.

How could I have communicated this better to make her understand?

I just sent her an email saying that I'm sorry for the miscommunication and I tried to explain my point of view again.
When you are a worker bee, and your boss's boss tells you in writing what to do, the best response in general is to do it. You are already on your boss's bad side.

M,

I had a similar scenario come up with an employee today. They handled it differently:

Me: hey can you add this feature so we can close a deal with this customer?

Engineer: sure, I can definitely do that. It'll take probably 3 days of dev work. One thing that might work for them is if we just change this one setting in the database. It would take me about an hour to configure that and test if it would work. Think that's worth a try first?

Me: definitely.

Engineer: great idea boss, I think that may save us a lot of time and let us deliver the customer a solution today.

Me: yeah, that is a really smart solution I came up with. Alright go work on that, I'm gonna go have a beer to celebrate.

Why did you email her boss?

Sure, I can do that. Would it be okay if I tried X first though? I think that might fix the problem quicker and if that doesn't work, then I'll change the flowmeters.

She's pissed because her boss gave her **** because of you. That's what the conversation is about right now. She doesn't want an explanation from you. She doesn't give a ****.

She doesn't want an explanation from you. She doesn't give a **** about that right now. Shut up or you soud like you're arguing with her, which you are.

She assumes this because her boss told her, "I told MLY to do something and she said she didn't want to do it." If you try to tell her why you did what you did, it just sounds like you're arguing with her.

You need to say something like, "I'm sorry. I must not have have explained myself very well to your boss. I was trying to tell him that I'd change the flowmeters, but I wanted to try X first because I think that might solve the problem quicker. I apologize for the misunderstanding."

Then depending on how pissed she still is, either you shut up and go change the flowmeters, or you could ask, "Would it be okay if I try X and then change the flowmeters if that doesn't work?" If she says, no, boss told you to change the flowmeters, then you shut up and change the flowmeters.

I weighed in today at 257lbs, and I was near 310 whilst competing. So that's 50lbs lost (while cutting my bf% in half). I didn't log about the food because it's not exciting and incredibly simple. I likely won't drop any more weight because I don't want to be a tinybro. Seems like that should count.

IT IS SOLVED. You know it's solved, even without tuna breakfasts, lol.

This is awesome. You should apply that to your journey to get healthy and every other facet of your life as well.

El D's scenario is perfect, and exactly what every boss wants.

I thought one of the main positives of living where you do is your mom and multiple siblings being nearby. What about one of them?

and babydaddy, and babydaddy's mom, and babydaddy's daddy. this was all about her using her kid for a purpose...again.

Seems like it would be a good idea to start cultivating a relationship with a sitter you can trust. Care.com has a good interface to find people, or there's always neighbors/Craigslist etc.

I can now fit in jeans that have been too small for 3years! And, my butt is looking rounder since lifting weights.

One of my sister's started working nights, and my mom watches her three kids everyday. My other sister is watching her grandchildren for her daughter an hour away from me, my other sister works a rotating schedule and lives an hour away, and my fourth sister is just bitchy a lot and wont help me. My ex-inlaws would definantly not do anything that would remotly help me even if it meant spending time with their granddaughter. I maybe could get my ex sis in law to help out with next week's meetings depending on her work schedule, but it would be an hour drive for her too. I know my ex will be out of state next week and I'll have the same situation of having to bring my daughter.

Dividesby0....thanks for the suggestion, but lol @ thinking I would hire a babysitter from CL. It scares me for her to be with anyone other than family or a daycare center.

I hope you check out care.com at least. It seems pretty legit.

What's the diff with just finding a college chick in town and running a background check than using a site that doesn't really do anything?

From what you told us about your family/relatives, complete strangers might be a better option to babysit.

I liked that it was a bunch of profiles and all in one place. Seemed easier than back when I was a babysitter and it was all word of mouth.

And I thought mlylt might have fewer excuses for not finding a sitter if it was easier to find good candidates.

I ain't hatin... just seems like pedoville since they don't vet and their users and their database is in the tens of millions large. As always, as the site advises, one needs to do legit background checks whether it's craigslist or their site.

Great news on the jeans MLYLT; congrats!

Now if you could just manage to control the types of food you consume a bit lot more you would really be killing this weight loss thing.

Oh, and exercising a bit more too would be pretty big (pun intended).

Good luck moving forward!

EDIT:

WTF?!?! weight loss with a hyphen gets censored?

LOL Mason.

I didn't work out this weekend :/, and I left both pairs of my shoes in Dallas. I have to go to Walmart and get a cheap pair of shoes tonight.
From now on I am working out on Fridays before I leave for Dallas because I know I won't go to the gym when I get there.
02-06-2017 , 12:08 PM
MLYLT,

How did you get home without a pair of shoes?
02-06-2017 , 12:11 PM
I momentarily had the same question, but she pretty clearly means workout shoes.
